Hi

I am translating portugues bank letter and other documents to english (for study permit) and on the website it says:

Translation of documents
If a supporting document is in a language other than English or French, the applicant must provide IRCC with a copy of the original document as well as a version translated by a certified translator.

If a supporting document is in a language other than English or French, the applicant must provide IRCC with:
  • the English or French translation; and
  • an affidavit from the person who completed the translations; and
  • a certified photocopy of the original document.
the affidavid was done at a notary whereby the translator swore that the translation was genuine but....the affidavit is in portuguese and the translator has written an english translation version of that affidavit so do i have to do another sworn affidavit of that translation version of the affidavit as it becomes a loop!

I currently have:
original
certified original
translation of original
translation of the certified notarised true copy done at the notary
affidavit done at notary whereby translator swore it was a true translation (which is in portuguese)
translation of the affidavit from portuguese to english (do i have to go through the whole certified copy situation for this translation again, since it will be never ending loop or rather just attach this translation and explain in a letter that it will be a never ending loop)

I only sent the following:

original
certified original
translation of original
translation of the certified notarised true copy done at the notary
affidavit done at notary whereby translator swore it was a true translation (which is in portuguese)
translation of the affidavit from portuguese to english (I just went back to notary and asked to add this translation to the other files and he stamped it)

visa is approved, in future rather get it done online with Toronto based translator.

I also used an online Canadian service, but they didn't provide a certified copy of the original . I already submitted by application and worried now about a refusal

Did you use these translations for SP amendment?

was it accepted or refused? immigration require certified copy of any original that's not in english or french to proof that the original is not a forgery/fake.

I got MEP and biometrics, so I am not sure if I passed R10. But we are sending the original copy, what is the point of a certified copy then.....

the certified copy is to certify that it is original and not a fake/false document.
Anyway its what is written on the website and to avoid refusal just give thm what they want, if you get approved without the certified copy then consider yourself lucky.
