Wrong thread for your question.

Firstly remember CA is a regulated profession in India and Canada. You will have to study all over again to become a CA in Canada and get a license.

Find out your NOC codes.

If you crack IELTS and are able to get 460 then yes you'll get the invite soon in a couple of months maximum however you need to finish your ECA and go through a lot of reality checks before that.

Continue doing your research and all the best.Take one step at a time.
I guess for CAs , you just have to clear the CPA exam which is specifically designed for Canada and then you will be in demand there.

Hi guys,

Me and my wife are chartered accountants. We both have 5 yrs of work experience. I am in banking and she is in audit. As per cic calculator we are expecting our points to be 460. I request you guys to help me understand following questions for Express entry program :-

1.How much time does it take to get an ITA under express entry with CRS score of 460+.
2.How many rounds of express entry are there in a year and its frequency (monthly, quarterly etc).
3. How is the job market for chartered accountants? I am in banking and my wife is in Audit with around 5 years of work experience each.
4. What is the government plan for intake of migrants for coming years tentatively in numbers (same, increasing or decreasing) ? Will they continue to offer same no of invitations or will it drop post the election in October?

Any other precaution I should take before applying?

Regards
Aditya
I am from the same profession. It is advisable you check CPA Canada website and check if there is some MOU with your CA Body. If there is no MOU you may be eligible for some exemptions based on how CPA Canada rates your CA organisation. As an accountant you should know local qualification is valued by a country's employer due to local candidates having better knowledge of tax, local gaap, business law etc. Most accounting jobs as per my research require CPA Qualified or partly qualified.

First determine the route that is suitable to get CPA qualification based on your credentials then think are you up for that challenge which may require additional study.

From your name I guess you are and Indian CA.
After reading some replies to your query, I thought of adding 2 cents from my side. All the replies are only partially correct.

1. You can get PR via Express Entry with your CA degrees from India. Not a problem at all.
2. WES gives ECA for your degrees.
3. To work exactly as a professional accountant (who prepares books/ balance sheets / P&L statements), yes you will have to do CPA (to get Professional License). Again that can be done on after reaching there. Not a problem again.
4. If you intend to work with industry (companies) and not practice as an accountant, CPA is not mandatory. You can get Accounting / Finance and similar jobs in organisations, depending on your ability and experience. Just that for career growth in future, doing CPA would be advisable. Up to you.
5. Canada, and specifically Ontario have ample opportunities for Accounts & Finance professionals. So, if your goal is to settle long term, you can take the punt.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

I think it will be extremely uncharacteristic for CIC to not hold a draw for a whole month. So there is a decent chance that we may see a draw next week. The scores were supposed to become a bit more regressive and reach the mid 450's if the draws continued without interruptions. Seems even scores over 465 or above are not in the safe bracket. With the thousands of PNP invitations alongside the influx of highly qualified individuals, I think we should probably brace for a higher score differential in the following draws ( might even reach over 480, assuming 3000+ PNP's attack the pool at the same time). I see quite a few people who are yet to max out their scores, if there is a possibility to increase your scores, be it taking IELTS again or getting a secondary qualification, please don't postpone. This is not a scenario where we can wait for things to settle down, have to be a bit more pre-emptive. Best wishes for all of you folks.

I have CRS score of 481 and just submitted my application a week ago. How long before the draw an application must be submitted? Should I expect to get ITA whenever next draw happens? 481 should be a pretty safe score, right?

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone.
I am in pool since March with 448 points and my points will increase to 472 in October as my experience will turn to 3 yrs then. I want to utilise the time in all this waiting period. Please tell me if I can take bank manager's letters from my bank accounts in my hometown 2 months prior to getting ITA. These are two very less used accounts but as I have read all our accounts must be clear of debts and loans, I understand we need to take letters from all our existing bank accounts. For the main account with my money for proof of funds, I will take letter after ITA only.

So please suggest if I can take the letter for unused bank accounts 2 months prior to getting the ITA.

Thanks

You will get your ITA for sure in the next draw. You don't have to worry about the date you enter the pool since your score is so high.

people dont realize how easy it is to get a 470+ score. all you need is to be below 30 yrs and decent english. expect 470+ to be a norm.

You just made it look like sound very horrible.
Its not that bad a situation. People should keep their cool and wait for the next draw and try whatever there is a possibility for them. Anything above 455 is already very decent for this year. And CIC ll be back with draws so no need to panic and the cutoff ll be at worst in higher 460s.

I have a question about employment verification letters, I am a data-scientist and I used the 2161 job code. My employer provided me their default job duties and verification letter and are unwilling to make any changes. It covers some portion of the description/duties in the statistician heading in the noc description :

http://noc.esdc.gc.ca/English/noc/Profile.aspx?val=2&val1=2161&ver=16

Statisticians
  • Conduct research into the mathematical basis of the science of statistics
  • Develop statistical methodology and advise on the practical application of statistical methodology
  • Apply statistical theory and methods to provide information in scientific and other fields such as biological and agricultural science, business and economics, physical sciences and engineering, and the social sciences.
But not these exact words. I noticed online on a facebook group that many people basically copy paste or paraphrase their job description letters to match the exact NoC wordings and then get their managers to sign it on company letter-head. My company will never agree to do that :( .. is this a problem?

I have a PhD in statistics so I hope that at least helps make my NoC match stronger?

Thanks Nikki. My score is more than 8 in reading and Speaking. 7.5 in listening and just 6 in writing. I could not write fast by hand. Would computer based IELTS help in this regard?
Dude, try and get 8 in listening as that will zoom your IELTs score by 37 odd points even if your writing is 6/6.5
