There is no rule that you can't stay after your application, but make sure that you have the right amount of days after travelling to India and staying there for more than 8-9 months. I know couple of people who have done that and they didnt have any issue getting their citizenship. But every case is different so can't give you complete confidence that it should go smoothly.

You have to be careful, they may send you your test date for your citizenship - so make sure you have someone either checking your mail or if you have provided your email, they will send you an email with a test date. Keep in mind that you will only have a 2 week notice before the test.

Its not the PR Status to be effected. it is the residency obligation for Citizenship which may get effected.

That was the old Citizenship rule (to remain 6 months in each year), that was abolished by new Liberal government in year 2018. Previous Harper government made this rule and also conducted personal interview to prove that person will remain in Canada , before this new rule.

Please have a look at this new rules and regulations, previously they mentioned to remain atleast 6 months in each year in last 5 or 6 years eligibility period. Now they changed the rule in year 2018 ( as it was already before Harper government)
