Hi guys,
I am in a dilemma.
AOR: 7th Nov
MEP: 7 Dec
Biometrics: 13 Dec
Eligibility Recommended passed: January end
Ghost update: February 21
2nd Ghost update: 7th August
3rd Ghost update 7th August

Need your suggestions.
My husband and I are going to US on August 23rd on a pre booked trip. Since we didnt get PR so far, we had decided to leave our toddler with his grandparents for 10 days as a)its a cruise b)cruise and ticket charges sum up to 2500$ for the 2 year old.
c) we are going only for 10 days
TWIST: Interestingly, I received a ghost update yesterday evening. And then ANOTHER one around 3am. Now we are super confused. In case our PR comes while we are in US can we do landing on the COPR letter by road at the US/CA border? Or is it necessary to get the passport stamped? Should we take the risk and take our son along or ignore the ghost update? (Considering we got a ghost update in February also and didn't get PR til date, eligibility recommended passed since January), Is it worth the hassle plus cost?

The ghost updates don't mean anything. Wait till you actually get a Passport Request before you start changing plans.

You will not get a CoPR without sending them your passport anyway (assuming you're Pakistani citizens). They don't just mail the CoPR separately.

You might get your PPR quite soon. if you do, and you feel you don't have enough time to submit your passports, you can always submit a case specific enquiry to ask for an extension.
They usually extend the deadline by an additional 30 days without any issues.

Technically, yes, you can. However, if you're only there for 10-odd days you won't have enough time. You'll have to email the visa office for Pakistan (where you get the PPR from), and ask them to switch it to Ottawa. They will take a few days to respond and then you'll have to send the passports and wait at least 10-14 days to get them back.

Don't bother with all that. If you get your PPR while you're travelling, just email them back and ask for a brief extension since you're out of Pakistan. They usually have no issue giving a 30-day extension.

Hi, I just wanted to share as this may help someone.
I received my passport request on 10th August dated 9th August. I had a pre booked confirmed flight on 22nd August.
Visited the local VFS and they assured I would get it back in time for the flight.
So i submitted my passport on Wednesday 14th and got an email on 19th to collect the passport next day. Pakistan Zindabad! =D
I now have the stamped passport in my hand on 20th August. Alhumdulilah :)
