Hi, we have 3 kids and would like to sponsor my Aunt to a caregiver program. My Aunt is currently in Italy and would like to move or settle here in Canada. She is well experienced in caregiving and have had prior experiences. Can you please let me know how can I sponsor her and are the procedures and documents to produce? Many thanks for your help.

Thanks. As mentioned, can my Aunt apply as Home Child Care Provider Pilot instead of Home Support as she will be caregiving our Children?
Also, is she the one to apply in the website and not me as the employer?

Yes, she can apply under the home child care provider pilot as long as she's qualified.

There are forms and checklist you can find on the website, applicant will be the one to complete it. Job offer to be completed by employer and signed by both employer and caregiver

Thanks for your response. My Aunt is currently in Italy working as a caregiver there but no valid papers there. Can she apply from Italy or she will have to go back to the Philippines? I guess not really matter yet as she is applying online but once it is ready to approve she will have to go back. Is that correct?

I cannot say for certain. Application isn't done online. It has to be submitted by paper to a case processing centre in Edmonton. Also, there are questions in the form asking what her status is while working in Italy..

When you say that she has no valid papers, do you mean she is in Italy without status / illegally? If so, she will definitely have to return to the Philippines before applying. She will be refused if she applies from Italy. Once she returns to the Philippines, she should remain there for 6-8 months before applying for the visa to Canada to re-establish ties. She will need to be 100% honest about her immigration history (including any periods out of status in Italy) in her application to Canada.

You can't benefit at this time. You need to work as a caregiver in Canada for 2 years before you will qualify to apply for PR under the new caregiver pathway.

You need to find an employer who can give you a job offer. Take an english proficiency exam and have your ECA done..

Same question too let's reach out to Seniors @scylla - can you help us clarify this one? Attending and giving care to kids is just an inherent nature scope of work that even someone can do it esp aspiring moms who is in different line of study but are willing to undergo/sacrificed their educ because of this new pathway.

I don't know the answer for certain. I'm not familiar with the new program.

My belief is that you still need to have related education and/or paid work experience to qualify. If you have unrelated education / work experience, my belief is that you'll be refused.

Yeah..totally make sense, there should be at least a connection to caregiving that would relate the application to this pathway . Thanks @scylla
