Got a ghost update last Thursday . Called IRCC this morning, they informed me that the Visa office has sent an email requesting for interview on August 8... I believe this is the golden email but I didn't receive anything yet. The agent told me to call back on thursday if still nothing received by then.

Check your spam, or try to search for "cic.gc.ca" in your email.

Hi guys,
My current work permit will be expired in the end of October and my PR application has been in the process for 4 months. So, I am considering to extend my work permit by applying for Bridge Open Work Permit if I haven't heard anything from IRCC until September. No updates in my PR application so far. Is it okay to start applying for BOWP within 2 months before my current WP expires? What do you think? Much appreciated it!
Thanks

You can apply for BOWP if your current work permit expires in 4 months or less, and you have valid status on your work permit.

So, you are Ok and can apply.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/extend-permit/bridging-open-work-permit.html

Note that BOWP takes around 98 days now. It's important only to put you in a legal status (implied status) until you receive it, or receive your PR.

So, my suggestion is:

If your current work is stable and you will not change your employer until you got your PR, so apply for BOWP 15 dayes or less just before your current work permit expiration date. This will save you money and efforts and you might receive your PR within that time.

However, if you want to change your employer or find another job in the near future. It's better to apply right away

---------
Thank you for your advice. I will not change my employer because I'm a permanent employee. I also think that I should wait until September to see where my PR application goes on, then will start applying for BOWP if there is nothing updated from IRCC.

I just wonder that I will still be in legal status when my current WP expires but BOWP doesn't get approved yet? Am I eligible to continue working although my current WP expires?

If your work permit expire but your BOWP doesn't get approved, you will be in implied status until it is approved. This means, you are eligible to continue work only in the same job with the same conditions. If you lost your job in implied status you can stay in Canada but not allowed to sign a new contract until you get BOWP or PR approved.
