Translation certified copy?

Hi,

I need some help interpreting this requirement:

Translation of documents
If a supporting document is in a language other than English or French, the applicant must provide IRCC with a copy of the original document as well as a version translated by a certified translator.

If a supporting document is in a language other than English or French, the applicant must provide IRCC with:

• the English or French translation; and
• an affidavit from the person who completed the translations; and
• a certified photocopy of the original document.

So, say I have a certificate and I've had it translated in Canada by a certified translator. The translation has 3 pages:

• a photocopy of the certificate with a seal of the translation agency (but the stamp does not say this is a true copy)
• a translation
• a statement from the translator

My plan is to upload the scan of the original + the 3 pages mentioned above. Does that conform to the requirements? Or do I have to get the certificate notarized at a notary public and attache the notarized copy as well? Or do I need to notarize it at a notary public and have the notarized copy sewn to the translation???

Is there anyone who did not get it notarized but only translated?

Please help and share your experience. Thank you.

Hi,

I received my COPR in Feb and arrived in Canada two weeks ago.

When I submitted mine, I scanned everything including the original documents, translated documents and the certificate/proof of authenticity letter from the translation company.

Keep in mind this is just my 2 cents so your experience may differ.

The certificate/proof of authenticity letter from the translation company you mentioned, does it say this is a certified true copy of the original, or it says the translation is accurate and true?

It says, "<the name of translator> personally appeared before me, confirmed that the attached translation is true to the original and subscribed his (her) name. This is hereby attested on this <date of appearance>" followed by the lawyer's signature. Essentially, I have a Notarial Certificate with official stamps from the lawyer's office on every page of the original and translated documents and the lawyer and translator's signature.

I'm not sure what CIC's exact criteria on this are by the way. Just describing what I submitted is all.
