We are currently in the process of gathering all our documents. I was going through the "Complete Guide" where the topic of certified copies came up. What exactly needs to be certified? Everything? Only those documents that are not in English or French?

All the documents that we will be submitting are either in English or French.

official documents
  • birth certificate
  • marriage certificate
  • divorce certificate if applicable
  • copy of sponsor passport or citizenship card or what applies.
  • copy of principal applicant travel document
basically any official documents you are sending. Remember they don't want the original so you must prove that the photocopy of what you are sending is a "true copy" of the original.

Generally, not for English and French documents but you need to look at the country-specific requirements to see if the applicant's country has different requirements. Some countries with higher rates of fraud require certified copies or originals.

Regular photocopies of English and French documents are fine unless the country-specific requirements state otherwise.

Thanks for the prompt response. Yes, I did check from the drop down and it indicated that no further documentation is needed at this time. So i'm assuming that for this country it is not a requirement then?

If it says nothing, then no.
