I have always been an individual who has wanted more. The spirit of competition excites me and excelling is important to me. I love to learn more and challenge myself. This is what prompted me to apply for a masters in Electrical and Computer engineering program at University of Alberta. Electronics made today’s world’s progress possible and I want to be part of global fraternity in this field. My short-term goal is to break through a new industry consequentially learning new skill sets and gaining robust practical knowledge and leadership qualities by working in top Mnc’s as a techie would exactly state my objective. Not only that, I wish to become an entrepreneur giving out jobs in the electrical industry back in home country. Thus, I envision myself as a successful businesswoman giving employability to people. I am aware that such a goal requires confidence, global exposure and advanced knowledge and thus seek a Master’s degree which I believe will allow me to gain all the these and set me on a path towards my desired career.
My fascination towards electronics and its related areas from school days had intrigued me to opt for Engineering and after my secondary school level, due to my strong interest in electronics field, I did my Diploma (Technical Education) in Electronics And Communication Engineering. Subjects like, Electronics Devices and Circuits, Electrical Circuits and Instrumentation, Industrial Electronics, Digital Electronics, Digital Communication and Biomedical Instrumentation interested me greatly and this gives me excellent result by performing well in semester examinations and secured 1st place in my department in 2nd and 3rd year with receiving cash price by honourable chief guest. During my final year of Technical education, I did a project on “Smartphone Enabled Dangerous Driving Report System”. Having acquired significant knowledge in this field made me choose undergraduate studies in Electronics and Communication Engineering to further my career aspirations.
During my undergraduate studies at Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai, I have been exposed to several different elements of electronics. Among the vast array of courses of the Anna University Curriculam, the one that stimulated me the most were Wireless Communication and Networks, Control System and Image processing. I also worked on a project, “Smart Child Rescue System from Bore-well Using Pick and Place Robot” a device used for rescuing the victim from the well with more safety and in less time by using the robotic arm during my undergraduate studies. This project is designed using Raspberry pi through which the camera and the various sensors has been attached to it to monitor the victims position and the health condition of the victim in real time and also reduces the human effort in recuing operation.
Moreover, these experiences were invaluable since I learned the functionality of various real-world applications. I have also enjoyed keeping abreast with the latest technological development through reading and browsing on internet. Apart from this I have attended Workshops and Seminars on Internet of things, Android, Artificial intelligence and machine learning. I have worked as an intern in Srishti i2i biz solutions to develop project on smart water management using IoT. In bachelor’s degree, I got fundamental knowledge about the subjects. When I was working as intern I had the opportunity to apply my knowledge in project and also gain advanced knowledge of trending domains such as Virtual Reality, Robotics and Automation.
With aspiration of attaining in-depth knowledge and experience in electrical field, I have selected Master’s program in Electrical and Computer engineering. The program will allow me to gain in-depth understanding of subject like Systems and machine intelligence and Image processing, and practical application of Biomedical and electronic devices. As MS programs are linked to the industry trends, I will also gain advanced knowledge of trending domains. The Master’s program will also allow me to keep up with the fast-paced world of technology advancement and give me the ability to design and create solutions in accordance with the emerging technology trends and help me in gaining a global career in the field.
When I first started looking into possible destinations for my masters, one of the first institutions recommended to me was “University Of Alberta”. I strongly feel the need to both update and enhance my existing knowledge. I am motivated to attend a good university by my interest in different technologies in the field. The wide scope of research in graduate studies has always attracted me and now I have decided to avail myself the opportunity that I was missing so far. I believe pursuing a Master of Electrical and Computer Degree at a reputed university like “University Of Alberta” would serve as an excellent means to accomplish my cherished goals. University Of Alberta is considered as one of the best universities in Canada. It offers an experimental based learning process with modern methodologies, innovative co-op and internship programs.
Apart from technical expertise, I have engaged myself in activities beyond academics like winning the runners up in throw ball in school level and an active member of “THE INSTITUTION OF ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERS”. Also I have been a part of TEDx independent event at our college campus and organized the national level technical symposium to bring about the entrepreneurial spirit in me. In addition, I am a blood donor and also I have volunteered for beach clean-up programs doing my part to society.
