Hi,

I am in a weird situation. Our deadline for landing is Jul 28th 2017. I reside in the USA and my wife is in India. I can make the landing for myself but my wife cannot leave India due to important family reasons. Any suggestions? Worst case we will have to give up hope on our Canadian dream.

If you were the principal applicant, then you can land in Canada and then later sponsor your wife under family class. Otherwise, if your wife was principal applicant then you cannot do landing prior to her.

If you are the PA then you can complete the landing procedure yourself. You can apply for your wife's PR card while you land. Once you get the PR cards, you can ship the card to your wife in India and then she can land in Canada.

Edit: The above information is incorrect. The PA can land first but the wife has to finish landing procedure before expiry of the visa document.

Can you provide the source for the PA being able to get the dependent's card without the dependent landing?

Hi stormeye,

Can you throw some light on what you did for your spouse. In my case i made the landing and got my PR card. But my wife couldn't complete the landing before visa expiry date. I would like to know my options to get the PR for my spouse. Pls share any related info.
Thanks

You need to sponsor your spouse for PR.

Hello not sure about this but did you try asking for an extension of the deadline, if it is a short extension of course
