I've raised a CSE with the following questions:
1) Could you please update me on my status regarding - Eligibility - Criminality - Security 2) Could you kindly let me know where my application is being processed? Could you please send a reminder to the Officer that is processing my application?

The response:
Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
We verified the information you provided regarding the processing of your application and have forwarded it to the responsible office.
They will contact you if further information is required or if a decision is made on your application.
We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry.

Unfortunately the response is not helpful at all. I'll have a meeting with local MP tomorrow. Let's see if it will be more helpful than these templated answers.
I got exact same response today , u got any update since this message ?
I have already crossed 6 months timeline .

Hi! No update since then. I've been at my MP office today and I brought copies of all attempts to get GCMS Notes (I requested 3 sets and only received the first one) and all my CSE and these generic responses. They will try to get an update on my behalf but obviously they cannot promise anything. At least they do care and will support in some way.

I'm at CIO Sidney with a Review Required for conversion on the proof funds (that I provided but it is what it is). Just waiting, no Ghotst Updates on my application. MEP approved on January 29th and Fake IP2 since then with no changes at all and no ADRs requested.

LANDED..........

I have collected my passport and CoPR, and I am v impressed by the speed and efficiency of the VFS-NDVO combo. My counterfoil (visa) and CoPR were printed by NDVO/IRCC Delhi within a day of receiving my passport, which I have back in my hands in eight days all told.

I have some questions for people who have been through this already:
1. For people who need visas, does your counterfoil also not have a picture? I'm so used to Schengen and other visas that have pictures of me staring back that it was strange to see nothing in the space where there ought to be my handsome mug.
2. Did they glue on one picture to the IRCC copy of the CoPR and return the second picture unattached? What does this mean? Will the second one be collected by the immigration officer at the point of landing?
2.a. Both the pictures I submitted have the details of the studio on the back, plus name, DOB and date of picture. Could it be that my second picture was returned because they need one that's totally blank on the back? (I actually have several Canada-sized pictures to spare from the June 2019 and December 2018 batches, which I intend to bring with me to Canada.)
3. Does this mean the picture has been accepted and is unlikely to be rejected at the time of processing the PR card?
4. Were you curious to see "Surveillance Code 1" mentioned on your CoPR? Does yours have a different code? Is "1" the default for "non-shady" people?

@jay.pipalia @Abhi2056 @USProgrammer @northern sunshine @Abhiancha @Peacekeeper87 and others.
Can't speak to 1, but

2. They stuck one picture on the IRCC copy of my CoPR and I have no idea where the other photo went. They may have kept it for their records.
2.a. I recall both of my photos had the details written/stamped on the back. No problems there.
3. Oops, I said the wrong thing here as I was thinking of something else. The photos probably do meet spec but they haven't formally been "approved." Sometimes they reject photos for being too old or out of spec by the time someone formally lands.
4. Mine also says Surveillance Code 1. I'm pretty non-threatening. :) It might be medical surveillance, though-- see this rarely referenced page on their medical codes, and the section at the bottom entitled "Surveillance Codes."

Surveillance codes (“S” criterion)
All cases require an “S” code.
S1

No requirement for medical surveillance

Note: For M1 profiles, the surveillance code is defaulted to S1. For other medical profiles, the surveillance code “S1” needs to be manually selected.

S2.01
Applicant is inadmissible to Canada (active tuberculosis); used in conjunction with the medical profile M4.
S2.02
Medical surveillance required. Conditional entry recommended if granted entry to Canada (pulmonary tuberculosis inactive).
S2.02U
Medical surveillance required. Conditional entry recommended if granted entry to Canada (complex pulmonary tuberculosis inactive).

1. My counterfoil does not have picture, I also thought it was funny looking when I first saw it.
2. One of my CoPR has picture, one does not. I believe the border agent will collect the one with picture, and give you back the one without picture. This might be use to enter Canada if you travel by road via US.

My sibling just got PR card, they use the scanned copy of that second photo for PR card.

Can't speak to 1, but

2. They stuck one picture on the IRCC copy of my CoPR and I have no idea where the other photo went. They may have kept it for their records.

I dropped a web form with questions on my primary and secondary VO. I got the below response.

  • Your application is currently being processed at the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.
  • The responsible office is currently reviewing the application and documents submitted to determine if you and your family members if applicable meet the eligibility requirements under the class for which you have applied. You can expect to be contacted if additional information is necessary.
Not sure but i do not trust the agent with point # 2.

Oh, haha, I had read the CoPR too quickly to see the "surveillance" note was under the medical section. I was thinking more along the lines of a general surveillance by a secret police! Haha
