Single applicant from Brampton, did test and oath at Scarborough. Had received Oath invitation letter on the spot right after the test for next day ceremony. Finally became Canadian yesterday. Thanks all.
  1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on April 5, 2018.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canadaon May 2, 2018.
  3. We started processing your application on June 20, 2018.
  4. We sent you a notice on May 23, 2019 to appear and write the citizenship test on June 10, 2019 at 8:15 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

Any April 2018 applicants done with the test and still waiting for oath?
It is so stressful,
Knowing that One does not have any problem and the file is sitting there only because it is forgotten, is so disappointing,
Even doing follow up, they stop you by saying your file is complicated, no one explains what is a complicated file, and what action is taken to have it moved? I am tired of checking, prefer to leave it the way it is.

May 2018 Applicant
· Already passed one year from date of application submission
· Since last 9 months –status is showing decision made
· Called IRCC - few months ago they said there is no issue with your application your local office will invite for oath soon
· Sent couple of web form – No response

I know some friend they applied 4-5 months after me already completed oath from Scarborough office same as mine. I don’t understand how they process and prioritize the oath invitation – no clue at all
I lost my patience and stressed - Friends please provide your suggestions is there any solution at this point

call IRCC & ask, where is your file now? because I am living in Scarborough & I did my test & interview at Scarborough office, but I took my Oath at Mississauga office. so call & ask , if your file is in Mississauga office you have to wait... because too much backlog at Mississauga office.

I called them two months ago and they said file is in Scarborough office ready for oath you will get it soon. Last week I sent web form inquiry about my application and their response below I got today.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
We verified the information you provided and can confirm that a decision has been made on the application. Rest assured that the responsible office will contact you by mail or email to provide you with that decision.
We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your inquiry”.

Hi, I am PR now and applying citizenship next month (July 2019).
I dont have last name(surname) in PR. Instead First and last name together as first name (given name).

Eg. First (Given) Name is MARK JOHN SMITH. Last name(surname) :---------
In the above example, want to make First (given) name: MARK JOHN and Last name (surname): SMITH
Is it possible during citizenship application ? without legal documents?

Anybody have experience?

As I know, you can't use different name in your Citizenship application other than name appears in PR / Landing Paper/ Birth Certificate / Marriage certificate.
but you can legally change your name and you can apply with new name. Find details below how you can change your name legally.

Had test today, 20/20.

Very easy setup and the staff were so nice. Got called for the oath tomorrow at 1pm.

So nice to be really reaching the last hurdle ! Best of luck to all.

You need some proof like Driver's license and passport with the updated name. The instruction guide mentions the kind of proofs that would be accepted. The change does not have to be a full name change but rather something that shows name change.

If you do submit a legal name change request, your application would be made non-routine and basically you can forget getting citizenship until the end of two years from the date of submission.

My case:
Request sent: 2018 Aug 17
Receive note: 2018 Oct 30
Test notice: 2019 Jan
Test: 2019 Feb 14th
Test Pass
DM: 2019 Feb 28th
Now still wait for ceremony notice, 4 months past
Any one have similar experience like me?
It looks they prioritize the newest one to the top and the old one at bottom.
They prioritize very bad
