Hi, I have a problem with the Express Entry form. I have a LMIA exempt code (C21 for IEC Open Work Permit) and got a job offer. According to the CIC guidelines, I should select that I have a LMIA in the form but when I select "Yes" it asks for LMIA Number and validity dates. Anyone knows what should I put in the LMIA Number field? btw, if I answer "No" to LMIA question, I won't get the job offer points but I'm eligible to get them.
IEC Open work permits are not eligibile for the the valid job offer points without an LMIA (even though the work permit itself is LMIA-exempt). To be elgiible for the points on an LMIA-exempt permit, it has to be a closed work permit (employer named on the work permit), and you must have already completed one year with the employer.

Please have a look at this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=697&top=29 It is clearly mentioned that I should be able to get Job offer points for Express Entry as IEC is one of the International Agreements listed.

Generic help centre answer. You need to look further. It does not count as a job offer unless the employer is named on the work permit. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/offer-employment.html

Hi, I have got an LMIA approval and a work permit for 1 year. Its been 2 months since I am working for the firm.
Can I claim 50 points for this LMIA in my PR application form ?
Does the LMIA has to be for 1 year AFTER I get the PR.. or just for 1 year from the time you work. ?

Please advise asap. I am intending to file my PR.

Because you are already on an LMIA approved work permit, you would only need a written FUTURE job offer to be eligible for the points. The job offer is not your PAST job offer letter, but your employer would have to give you a new job offer letter, for at least one year (or an offer of permanent employment) AFTER you obtain permanent resident status.

Hello Folks,

I got a VALID job offer letter (LMIA) on 23rd Aug 2018 for 2 years. So it will get expire on date 23 Aug 2020.
Would I get an additional 50 points if job offer valid for 11 months as from today?

As per CIC, they mentioned you should have a valid job offer from that employer for at least one year after we issue your permanent resident visa.

Please suggest whether I am eligible for an additional 50 points for ITA?

Appreciate you help!

Hello,

I would like to give some background about myself.
It's been a year since I graduated from a Canadian university. Recently, I filled out my Express Entry profile and submitted it. However, there are few questions I have which might increase my score substantially.

In December 2019, I started working part-time for a bank for a month while I was taking my finals in university as an analyst. Then I could apply for PGWP and start working full time by the end of January.
In August 2020, I was offered a better position by the same employer as an analyst but with a different title and responsibilities. Since then I have been working full time.
While I was filling out the Express Entry application, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to select "Yes" for; "Do you have a valid job offer?" question so I selected "No". Also none of the aforementioned jobs had the LMIA code.

But please note that I have been working for the same employer for more than a year now but had my job change within the bank in August.
Should I update my account since this might increase my score by a lot?

Also please keep in mind that my employer is in Quebec but I will be moving outside of Quebec once I am invited to apply.

Thank you very much in advance.
Regards.

I'm assuming you are on a PGWP. If so, the answer is no. What you have does not qualify as a job offer. Your employer needs to get an approved LMIA if you want to claim points for having a job offer.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Yes, I am on PGWP and I believe since this is considered as Open work permit, I won't be able to get points unless my employer files LMIA as you said.

Hello,
I have some doubt about the Job offer. I was working as PostDoctoral Fellow form Jan-2017 to July-2020 at University of Manitoba. Currently from Sep-2020 to present, I am working full-time in a company in Winnipeg. I have an open work permit obtained on the basis of my wife as a full-time student at the University of Manitoba. I have a job offer letter. I do not have LMIA (although my Job requires LMIA).

Please suggest for PR application, what to answer in "Do you have a valid” job offer question.

Thank You in advance,
Regards
