hello fellow Canadians,

It’s been now 13 months since I received Canadian Citizenship.

I’ve been traveling extensively since July 2018. All trips were smooth except recently when I was sent to secondary screening at Los Angeles Airport while clearing immigration.

I have gone through this twice, the first time was in December 2018 and again in March . At each time I was sent to a secondary screening without solid explanations. But the officer who conducted the March secondary screening suggested I apply for a redress through a process called DHS TRIP. Today, the DHS emailed me a redress number, but mentioned that they have not completed the case.

Anyone has gone through this? Kindly share !

I can tell you, traveling on Canadian passport has been very smooth except for this incident.

I think any Canadian citizen naturalized or natural born can be sent to a secondary screening at a US border. Also if your birth country is one of the high risk countries that could trigger secondary screening. There are so many factors. It could be even the mood of the border agent.

Same here, always get sent to secondary, but all they do is just waste 10 mins with the passport and then stamp it and return it to me. No questions etc they just take the passport and tell me to wait.
Fortunately have no more need to travel to usa.

Everywhere else in the world, no issues.

Same for me ... only LAX sent me to secondary, surprisingly JFK airport never sent me to secondary, having had in-transit there twice last year... just LAX has issue with my name

Hello friends,

Just an update on this. A week ago I flew to Mexico City via Dallas. And surprisingly I wasn’t sent to secondary screening on both legs of my trip. I found it strange that I wasn’t sent to secondary this time. Anyway I’m happy.
