I am planning to apply for super visa for my mother back in India. She is 63 years of age.I have a few questions:-

  • Can I apply on her behalf?
  • She will be asked for biometrics but my mom is not able to get her finger prints scanned .This happened with her during Aadhar card application in India (an identification documents which requires biometrics)
  • After she is issued super visa ,Is it mandatory to travel to Canada within 6 months from the date the visa is issued?
  • How long can she stay in Canada?Does it depend on the immigration officer ?
  • Is it necessary to have the return ticket booked as well? She will be staying in Canada for an year if the super visa is issued.

Hi,

1. Yes, you can. You may need Use of a Family Member Representative for Online Applications (IMM5713E), if applying online.
2. Biometrics is necessary. However, once your mom is done with it at the VAC, they can ask the representative to verify if they have got the Biometrics correctly.
3. There is mandatory time to travel post visa stamped, they can travel any convenient time after that. Though you need Insurance, so keep them posted about the travel date to change the coverage dates.
4. It totally depends on Immigration Officer at POE (Port of Entry). They generally ask about the length of stay.
5. There is no necessity of booking return ticket until you have got the Visa stamped. However it is good if you can book provisional ticket (@ 0 INR), which many websites offer and add it to the Purpose of Travel.

Good Luck

For her biometrics, do check the threads and my responses to 'Shagufta' whose mom was in the same situation
