Police certification

Hi All,

On CIC website, about police certification it is written;

"For any other country
For any other country, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you stayed there for 6 months or more in a row."

It got me confused. Does that mean, I should get a police certificate if I stayed in a country for more than 6 months? or I should get a police certificate after I left the country?

My case is, I left my country in February 2018 and I have a police certification which I took for Canada Visa in December 2017. Is that certificate still usable or do I need to get a new one?

Can somebody clarify this?

Thank you,

Kindly.

You need to get the police certificate which is dated after you left the country.

You need to get the police certificate which is dated after you left the country.
Short query
Does it matter how old the certificate is? Do I need the original or is a copy good enough?

Long query
Lived in a SE Asian country 2011-14 and got certificate from them in 2015 as my employer wanted it. Now, thinking about PR. Only visited that SE Asian country once since certificate for 10 days max. Is that certificate good? For how long?
Alas, not sure I have the original but I do have a PDF scanned version, will that work?

Thanks for any help

Police certificates are good for 6 months ( for some countries 3 months, for details check PCC requirements for each country, link posted below) but if issued after your last visit then valid until you visit the country. Color PDF scan is ok as you just have to upload but black and white scan is NOT OK.

I think this answers both your queries.
