Hi all,

I have applied for my citizenship in Feb 2019 and I got AOR in April. I have been living in Canad since 2004. I have moved back to my country to spend more time with my family for about a year. On the website, it states that
While we process your application, contact us if any information on your application changes or if you:

I am keeping my Canadian address and my friend is taking care of my mails from CIC. Although I got AOR by email. Also, I have provided my friends' phone number as points of contact.
My question is: Is it absolutely necessary to tell them about my time in my country ? and Does this affect my application?

Thank you all for your time and help.

Presumably you will be available to fly back to Canada at very short notice if you receive a mailed fingerprint request or for interview/test?
You should keep IRCC updated and it won't affect your application unless you are a refugee returning to your home country. During your interview, if you are asked about your travel or personal circumstances, you will need to tell the truth anyway. Lying about being outside Canada would be a BAD idea.
