Question and advice regarding medical exam and depression

Hey just one more question. Is it likely that there would be a psychiatric report from the CIC for this? The doctor never mentioned it to my wife but I've done a little bit of research and seen some people get psychiatric reports for taking SSRIs.. but we are exempt? Any of you have some knowledge in this area? I know she will be fine.. I just dont wanna wait months and pay money haha
Fair enough. I'm all for being honest but in this case I almost wanted my wife to lie about the medication she is taking so we can avoid all this. Lol
Totally agreed, we wouldn't of lied obviously, hence why I started this thread for my wife. Just a bit of an intention joke.

She has been asked to get a psych evaluation. My wife takes SSRIs for her depression but that's it. The psychiatrist wants to charge us $1600-2000 for the evaluation. This seems like extortion, especially if the concern is whether my wife is a public health or safety risk.
Do we absolutely need to get the evaluation? Can we try to contact immigration and convince them otherwise? My wife and I cannot afford this type of fee.

You can try emailing the relevant Regional Medical Office to see what they say but generally if it's been requested and you don't do it, the app would be refused. Have you shopped around to different psychiatrists?

Thank you for the link. We haven't contacted any other psychiatrists. We were referred to this current one by the clinic where my wife had her initial medical examination. Should we call local psychiatrists in the area or get in touch with the clinic to help us find a new one? The clinic explained to us that many doctors don't like doing these type of evaluations for whatever reason. Ughh... $2000 is way too much money. Even half of that would be far too much.

I would definitely shop around. It doesn't hurt to call a bunch of places to ask. I agree that $2000 is way too much.
