Can anyone provide with successful examples of the Personal History part of the Schedule A form? I saw this one http://puu.sh/i8SHz/2158e054a5.png on a thread, it was posted a couple of years ago, but other than that, I have no idea if that's correct or not. I tried filling it up sorted by activities:

2017-04 to Now - Unemployed, visitor in Canada
2016-12 to 2017-01 - Travelling
2016-08 to 2017-04 - Working
2016-07 to 2016-07 - Travelling
2014-08 to 2016-08 - Unemployed
2013-01 to 2016-11 - Studying
2011-11 to 2014-08 - Working
2009-03 to 2011-11 - Working

There's no gap because dates overlap, I was working while studying for a while or just studying only. However, I'm still not sure if I should repeat myself and the same activities just to have a continuity year by year like that example or the link or not...

Here is an example that is presently on the CIC website. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289ETOC.asp#forms Please scroll down to the section for Schedule A. It lists an up-to-date example of what is correct.

I would not recommend doing it how you have done it. In fact, I doubt your form will even validate with you attempting to do it that way. The dates need to line up.

It's tedious but you cannot leave any gaps in time. My partner backpacked around SE Asia for almost a year and we had to go through his passport and write down all the entry/exit stamps' dates. Then we wrote a supplementary sheet and explained that for each month we put down the country where he spent most of his time, he didn't overstay any tourist visas he had. So his schedule A had like, 30 lines for personal history. We also included on the supplementary form that because he wasn't living in any of those countries his addresses wouldn't match up, that he listed his parents'house because that's where his mail went to and where he moved back to after travelling. It's such a shitemare if you've lived any kind of non-standard school-work-met partner lifestyle.

Hi,
I am new to this forum and need help in filling out the personal history schedule. I had done my 2 year Masters course in India from 2011-2013. In between in 2012 (Sep-Nov) I was in France for student exchange program. Should I put that in my personal history? And what do I put my status as? Unemployed or Studying?

Many thanks!

Yes, you need to include that in your history. Just include it in the middle and resume your masters course in India starting again from nov 2012-your end date. During the exchange program were you taking courses or just travelling?

I took one semester (3 months) in a college there, though I was still a student of my university in India. Even in my ECA there is no mention of this term separately. So I am not sure whether to include it in my personal history or just include it in the travel schedule only.

Hi there,

I'm still a little confused with this section as I am terrified of thinking I would leave a lot of mistakes. Some PR streams ask for travel history, which is very clear in what information they want, but it's quite different for spousal sponsorship. For the Personal History section, is it a combined history of all employment, education, and travelling?

I've travelled many times while employed, for short vacations like one-day trips across the border, and such, as well as while I was a student. Is all travelling history included in this portion as well? I haven't had a gap in employment but I did travel while employed. If I were to include everything for the past 10 years, I'd need at least 10 extra pages.

If it was a short one day trip, I wouldn’t worry about that. But any trips that were more than a couple of weeks or any trips on a plane, I would include. It’s a tedious task but unfortunately it needs to be done, even if you have to put 10 extra pages.

I completed the form but there have been overlaps as I did travel while still a student, and a worker. I think I had the same issue the original poster had, and was unable to validate my form -- though the form did not specify clearly what exactly was wrong. It just asked me to check the dates and make sure there are no gaps. So basically if I travelled while still employed by the same employer, the form should look as if I have a break in continuity of employment?

Not sure if I made sense there.

2007- Feb to 2011- Sep Employed Worker London, UK

Should I include Dubai in my Personal History for Schedule A?
