Hi,

I am Sep. 19, 2018 applicant. I received AOR on Dec. 21 and IP on Jan. 8th. Since then heard nothing. I also requested for the urgent processing. I am from Waterloo. Anyone in the same boat?

I see many October, November and even December 2018 applicants already received their test invite. Just was wondering if anyone knows how is their processing. My guess is that it depends on the location and also nationality. I know for the USA to receive a visa, they are picky on the level of education as well and impose very long background checks on highly educated people. Not sure if it is the case with Canadian citizenship as well. I cannot think of any other reason why some get their citizenship in 4 months, while some other have to wait over a year! Oh forgot the fact ... "Luck"....
Hi, When did you submit your request for urgent processing? Is it while sending the application or later ? Do you know whether your application has been considered for urgent processing ? It seems it matters how long it has been since the app is considered for urgent processing. I saw applicants from 2017 with urgent processing approved got their citizenship within 3 months.

Do you know why they issued RQ ? what was the reason behind it ? may be something happened during the test ?!
Nothing happened during the test. Finished as others did as usual, passed with 20/20.

Check the forum. There are some applicants who heard nothing about any decision made after passing the test... and six months later, voila ., they got issued RQ (either RQ lite CIT0520 or full blown RQ CIT0171 .. or both)

We're wondering if they asked you or mentioned anythint during interview that could have triggered RQ? Like did you have a lot of travel outside Canada?

Yea I had a lot of travel outside Canada. But didn’t need the police clearance certificate.

Thanks got the reply.
I requested urgent processing on March 11th. They said they will forward my documentation to the appropriate office. But never heard anything from the responsible office. Not sure if the responsible office would be the Waterloo office? If it is the case, was wondering of actually going there in person??

Congratulations, just wanted to know if the current job related questions are asked? Or just the eligibility period, like nature of job, full time or part time ? Thanks

Academic related reasoning. Basically, attending conference in the united states as part of my PhD program. Since I am from one of the 6-7th banned countries according to the USA new policy, will not be able to acquire visa. I wasn't given the Chinese visa last year to attend the most important conference in my field, which was very frustrating and shameful as my other group members all did (which was absolutely weird but I was told that I am from the banned countries). Anyways time flies, PhD program is only 4 years and I am missing my opportunities, which will affect my future career. This was my reasoning basically.

They told me they have forwarded my request to the responsible office. Not sure though if they have accepted the urgent processing or not but it sounded so! But as it was said it may be from the time you request for urgent processing which has been only 1 month. Anyways, it has passed 7 months since my application was sent. This tells me the slow pace of the responsible office or again something nationality related thing going on or some heavy background check(!!!) that I have not heard anything after 7 months...

I had requested urgent processing as well but never heard from them except that they forwarded my documents to the relevant office. I ordered GCMS notes and saw a note that an officer looked at my request and did not approve. So if it has been over a month since you sent your request and you haven't heard anything then probably they did not accept it.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it seems so :( I just hope one day Canada could care about intelligence as it does about humanity so we could have a country comparable to the United States economically instead of always falling behind....

Don't take my words as a 100% confirmation, judging from personal experience, request for urgent processing can be approved and still take almost as long as the regular one. Based on ATIP notes, my request for urgent processing was approved and I received priority test scheduling. But in the end the whole process is going to be completed late April, giving me 11 month processing time (Montreal).
