Hi. I am making a first landing in mid March. What is acceptable proof of funds that they will accept with It any trouble?

I understand from this forum that they do not generally ask for documents but do ask how much you have, so a recent bank statement from home country is enough? Or does heir question men how much I am carrying with me to Canada?

I want to play it safe so will cover the minority chance they ask for proof. So what is acceptable? Home country bank statement? Or should I have funds in Canada?

If later, what instruments will you suggest? Funds in Canadian account? Cash? Or something else?

Thank you.

This is just opinion and not facts what I am about to write.

Yes also the same I have read in the forums. In one topic where the guy explained to the details his landing and arrival encounters, they didn't even ask the question. To me it really doesn't make sense to carry that much of cash around while traveling, well not physical cash anyways. It is huge amount and is meant to cover you for months so imagine losing that while running around catching flights or carrying so many things. In addition, it doesn't make sense to have funds in Canada as you wouldn't have access to Canadian banks just yet.

What you can do though is have recent bank statement printed out and your debit card ready. That way, you can show the officer, in the unlikely event he asks, the statement and if he still not satisfied you could take him to the nearest ATM and show the balance. This is all remote chance.

It is not mentally healthy to carry around that much of physical cash while traveling when it is meant for months of cost of living. It is not for travel cost.

I did my landing last week. The authorities did not ask for any document or proof. Although I was carrying my bank letter and statements along with me.

Sorry to dig up on an old thread but will it be okay if I print out the e-statements (I get them in email) and just carry my debit card with me? Since I can't obtain stamped bank statements as I have left the country my bank account was in.

yes, i think it should be fine. Most people don't get asked about funds. If you do you can show them whatever you have.

They ask for funds. So just say Yes, I have funds.

You should carry some cash in hand, as it is required sometimes

Can i show funds in my spouse's name during landing but in express entry application under my name (me being the PA)? Also note the currency will also change when I show the funds in my spouse's name.

You can certainly do that. When you are showing funds from dependents, take a consent letter that you have access to those funds.

Hi All,
Can my spouse and myself show our Employee Provident Fund statements as PoF at the time of soft landing?
These statements were accepted at the time of our application.

Hi! I will be landing in Toronto this month. Is there anyone who could tell me if it is fine if I get a signed and stamped bank statement from my home country as Proof of Funds. I will be carrying cash too but not the whole minimum amount (CAD 12,699) that is required for an individual. It would be great if someone who has landed recently can advise me on this! Thanks!

For proof of funds you need not carry the whole amount, that is very impractical. You need to carry proof that funds are still present with you, these could be banking statements of accounts for ex. Signing and stamping them is not a requirement, prints of estatements will also do. Most folks carry enough funds to manage initial weeks/months and bring money in cards (prepaid or credit or debit) and some limited cash.
