Dear members,

I sent in my application to sponsor my spouse and it was reported as delivered by Canada post's express post on the 14th of feb (sent it to the case processing center - sydney).

I wanted to know a couple of things:
1. How long before I get an acknowledgement from CIC about the application?
2. My spouse lives in India while I stay in Canada. Can I apply for her tourist visa now?

Thanks.

1. Around 8-10 weeks.
2. Yes - she can apply for a tourist visa. The chances of refusal are high - but she can certainly try.

To answer your first question, it takes usually around 2 months for the acknowledgement from CIC. (Two of my friends got the AOR in around 2 months of time for their spousal application.)

For your second question, my wife is in India and I am sending her Sponsorship file next week. Even I am not sure if I should apply for her Visitor Visa right after that or should I wait until I get the file number (AOR) from CIC.

Please advise me if you already have applied Visitor Visa for your spouse or if you would suggest me to wait until I get the AOR.

My wife is in india, we applied twice, once before pr application and once after aor and medical biometrics were done.

Refused both time. But no harm in trying. As it doesn’t affect ur pr application.
