My timeline is at the very end of this post.

My partner and I arrived in the office 10 minutes before our interview time. We checked in with the receptionist, were greeted with “Congratulations” and given a number in queue :)

There were about 20 windows and were all open. The room was packed with people waiting. Luckily there was a TV with live World Cup lol. We waited about 30 minutes until our number was called.

We were met with a lovely lady. She requested our interview invitation letter and passport. We spent quite sometime confirming our first day of entry and last day of entry to Canada. Apparently the officers who processed our application entered wrong dates for both of us :) That may explain the transfer to Vancouver office and the double ghost updates… but the lady whom we met with was patient and corrected them for us. This process took longer than normal because the CBSA officer did not stamp my passport at my latest entry back to Canada and the stamp of my initial entry was on an old passport that I did not bring. She was able to verify these information on her side so in the end everything was sorted out.

She further asked how we met each other and other casual questions re cooking etc. I am seriously not sure whether this was for verifying our relationship or out of her pure curiosity. After all, she was very conversational throughout our interview who really wanted to get to know us better. She even told some of her personal stories :)

Then we were asked some statutory questions: are there any dependents of ours that were not listed on the application; did either of us commit any crime or served any sentences in and outside of Canada.

She then went to the back room for about 5 minutes and came back with the printed CoPR. She glued our picture to her CoPR copy, asked us to initial a couple statements, and finally we all signed on the CoPR. At this time, she officially congratulated us for being a Permanent Resident of Canada as of today, and advised us that: PR card will arrive in our mailbox within 8-10 weeks; we have residency obligations to fulfill as PR; we need to update our SIN number (usually you could update at the Service Canada in the same building, but since our interview was on a Saturday, Service Canada was closed); we should apply provincial health care coverage on Monday and advised me to call a number to let the province know that I am PR now so they can update my existing coverage.

I asked her whether they always do landing interviews on Saturdays. She told me that this office does landing interviews Mon-Sat with all windows open (full capacity) and still have backlogs… So the IRCC agents are really trying their best to process as many applications as possible. Please be patient, understanding, and appreciative. I trust everyone will get their PR in due time.

For those who are waiting for your ITA, PPR, CoPR, wish you a speedy processing. For those who already received approvals, wish you a bright and happy life in Canada!

Cheers,

Thank you for the detailed view. Just out of curiosity, when we receive the email for landing interview do we have to call CIC or local visa office for scheduling an interview date & time.

Is the landing interview a way if expediting your CoPR or for inland applicants or d they only issue that if there are any questions they may have regarding your application?

Hi,
I have a query.
In our case, only the dependent has received the PPR request as the dependent is in another country while the primary applicant is in Canada on a work permit and hasn't received any PPR request.
I understand from other forums that this usually happens for inland and CEC applicants and the PA will receive a landing interview shortly.
The issue is, the PA is shortly in India for a visit and we haven't notified IRCC as it only a short trip. If he receives an email for interview is there an option to reschedule the interview till he lands back in Canada or is it fixed?
Hi everyone,
There is an update in my case. The primary applicant has received a landing interview mail at the closest IRCC office. I believe once the application is approved, the dependent in another country is sent the PPR mail and for the primary applicant in some cases is chosen for the landing appointment. In such cases the closest IRCC office contacts the PA separately for the landing appointments based on their availability which might be a later date from when the SA applicant received the PPR mail.
Hope this helps !

Hi ..When you received the landing email, they only gave you 3 days for interview. If someone will not be available on that day can they extend their interview date? if yes how many days some one can extend?

Hello!! Is that true? In my case, the primary applicant received landing interview, but dependent applicants who live in another country haven't got PPR!! Did your dependent applicant receive PPR? If they did, they received before or after landing interview? Thank you in advance!!

Hi i just receive my landing interview today. For the photos, does the sponsor still have to provide them or only the person being sponsored?

Congrats!!

If all goes well, they will issue you a CoPR and do the formal landing (signing CoPR paper) at the same time. The one-entry counterfoil (stamped visa) is really for Outland applicants to travel to Canada and do the landing. Since our landing is already in Canada, they will NOT stamp your passport at all. They will only cancel and cross out all your existing Canadian visas on your passport.

Note that once you complete landing, you can NOT go out of Canada until you receive your pr card since CoPR is not valid for travel. Now if your travel plan is within Canada, you’d be fine. Otherwise let me know and I can give u some further explanation.

Happy landing!
I am travelling to india for 2 weeks after landing interview what should i do my interview is on 9th march and i have to attend a marriage on 18 th march in india

The letter has instruction on how to arrange another appointment, however, I highly recommend to make yourself available for the date and time that they have scheduled for you. Otherwise the wait time is unpredictable.

They can, but they cannot do landing before you. You must receive your CoPR first before they can come to Canada and complete landing at the airport. The delay of your decision letter (PPR) might be caused by the IRCC office not scheduling your interview in time.
