Hi All,

I am starting this thread to be a single location for all returned applications during 2018. Adding information such as reason for application to be returned, and how did you add or corrected or additional information/document will be a great lessons learned for everyone in the process of applying for citizenship.

Another piece of information is how long did it take for CIC to reprocess your application, and if you have a piece of advice on how to speed up the reviewing process for the second time please don't hesitate to share.

Thanks

Application information
Received December 24th, 2018
Returned February 19th, 2019
Reason: Missing copies of original birth certificates for kids
Sent back February 25th, 2019
AOR: None

Lesson learned
Applications for me and my wife were 100% complete, but not processed since the whole family payed the fees in one receipt. The only work around this that we should have split the payment into 2, one receipt for kids and another one for adults. In this way the application for adults would has been no in process instead of waiting for the kids application.

I had sent my application in April 2018 and had it returned. My timeline is below

App Sent - April 18, 2018
App Received - April 22, 2018
App returned - Jun 29, 2018
App Resubmitted - Jul 24, 2018
App Received - Jul 27, 2018
AOR - Oct 13, 2018
IP - Oct 25, 2018
Test Invite - Jan 11, 2019
Test Date - Feb 12, 2019
DM - Feb 13, 2019
Oath Invite - March 4, 2019
Oath Date - March 29, 2019

My application was returned as I dated my application wrong when signing it. I accidentally put my date of birth instead of the date of signing - such a stupid mistake. I also made a few other mistakes in my resubmitted application which the interviewing officer pointed out during my test interview - luckily they were minor and did not get my application returned again.

Lesson - thoroughly check the form, then check it again - and possibly get someone else to check it as well especially if you are as bad as I apparently am at filling them out :p

This very educative step taken by the forum. This will not only educate the applicant bur will also save time and energy avoiding receiving application back and it's resubmission. Thanks to the originator if such a noble idea to share the experience of committing g simply mistakes and consequences face by the person doing mistakes.

The applications fees have nothing to do with it.
The kids applications are tied to their parents' ones in the case of a family application, and they become canadians with their parents. Actually, their ECAS even stays as IP until the oath date...

The only lesson here is to make sure you don't forget anything. The whole package would be returned for anything missing for a single application, even with separate fees...

I had forgotten to put the date on the physical presence calculator sheet (because it printed to the back of the sheet, which I missed) Kids' packages were complete but it got returned as a whole as it was a family application. Funny thing is, it was three days to the 18th birthday of one of my sons so I was confused as to what to pay if I sent it after his birthdate. Anyways, I just signed all the papers with the day before his birthday and hopefully they will accept it
