Just a question. My parents mailed the whole package(medical proof,PCC,travel history form,schedulaA form etc) to Visa office London.which has been received (on DHL tracking).
On my father online account ,same documents have been asked to upload. Is it necessary to upload them as I dont have copies of all those forms.and since it's been physically mailed to Visa office. Please guide.

They will ask for the pcc after the bgc changed to ip.

for example for Indian BC takes even 1year + since VO is using 3d party for that
so make sense PCC goes after that

Usually they ask police certificate first.

Probably this is better for you because they may not ask to supply another police certificate if one expires as they finish security check.

What preplexes me is the discremination against parents and grandparents parents. This is evident in that spousal cases get security check really quick and finishes within the year while pgp security check takes much longer for whatever reason.

Are we to believe that older people are more of a threat than younger ones?

congrates! mine also shows "We are processing your background check.We will send you a message if we need more information" since they have requested for medical on 15th Jan but didn't ask for any PCC or pre arrival letter. Should i be worried ?

Usually once eligibility is passed pre-arrival letter is issued as a second step. As eligibility is passed and the big paragraph is written, they also ask for security check to start. When they start background check they send pre-arrival letter. For some LVOs pre-arrival letter means ppr request soon but for some other it simply means start of security check which may take very long.

Do you know how long does it take for the "background check"? like 1 year or less than a year?
I received medical request on 15th of Jan & passed the medical, since then my cic status shows "we are processing your background check" but it's been a month they haven't sent me any pre arrival letter or PCC request. any idea?

Your case might be in Ottawa or an LVO. Ottawa has been consistent and it's few months but other LVOs differ in their amount of laziness - I mean that. For example, London marks files "Put Away" and doesn't look it at for months even security is done or even if medical is done. They put a file away for few months and then get back to it. Just bad habits.

Looking at the excel sheet of 2016 and 2017 - with the little data that there is - you should get a response in less than a month if your file is handled by Singapore (your parents from Bangladesh I think). If the case is in Ottawa filter for Ottawa and check. Probably few months.
