Hey Guys,

Not sure if this is the right forum but being a Canadian Permanent Resident and having a Indian passport, I found out I need a schengen visa to travel Europe. I have been living in Vancouver for a while and was wondering if anyone has applied for schengen visa from here or within Canada like my situation.

If so would like to get some idea on experience applying for it. I have some questions like do you book the air flights before or after getting visa, bcoz i read that you need to submit hotel bookings prior to applying the visa. Would love to get an idea on the process.

I am primarily trying to visit iceland and then italy/poland in May end

Thanks

Hey! Since I am European, I don't know much about the visa application process for Schengen visa.
But there is one important detail that many travellers miss: Schengen is not the same as the EU. Particularly with a Schengen visa, you cannot visit the UK or Ireland. You can check the Schengen countries here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Area

If you stick to your plan (Iceland, Poland, Italy) you are safe. Just wanted to mention that since a friend of mine went to Europe on a Schengen visa and also planned to go to the UK for several days, only to learn days before that her visa doesn't work for the UK.

Thanks Spyfy. I did realise about EU and schengen being quite different while doing my research earlier. I am sticking with my plan for now though UK would be great too but that would mean applying an additional visa.

Anyways, anyone else has any experience getting Schengen visa from within Canada recently ?

.

hi , you will have to apply to the embassy of the first country you will travel too.
They will need ur Stay , bookings , Medical insurance and all.
So start with researching for a VISA for the country you will likely go to first

A Schengen visa is like any other really. You will need to prove that you have ties abroad, can support yourself and will leave Europe at the end of your visit.

Holding Canadian PR and a home, job etc in Canada will definitely be helpful but won't be sufficient to guarantee you a visa on its own.
