what you mean worst case scenario?
That it's gonna take longer than 19 months.
As I told before, the security check alone may take a year or longer.

Okay because I dk why its take longer?? since I check application from july and august they receive their DM and ppr and idk what the difference??and also I submitted completed application, but yeah for sure I will wait this month but what if next month still the same??
Like... Same dilemma we all have, but there is nothing we can do.

What takes longer? Any possible reason written in the first page, plus regular administrative reasons, like officers' vacation, physical file transfers, files in the wrong piles, mistakes, and even obscure reasons (like racism).

Usually if the application is all good, it is a ADR. Then 2nd most common reason are minor office delays.

Otherwise, the applicant usually knows what they did wrong.

But it looks like some applications from June/July/August 2017 are stuck, that is what Provincial Nominees/Paper based are saying in the respective thread, check it out if you are from this group.

From them to now, we had/have the migrant crisis, the 30k refugee intake, some backlog, and it could even have some Canada Post strike involved (don't know if they use Canada Post for file mailing). There was a lot to process.

Let's see if in February the processing the will go up or down.

The estimated time my application will be fully processed in March 2019. If between now and then, I accept a new teaching position work-wise while keeping my current job (employee) in parallel, does CIC need to know? I applied through express entry as a skilled worker (federal) and my application is not tied to a job or a provincial nomination. Is there any information I need to share with CIC in case I took the job?
If you have a Open Work permit, no need to tell.
If you have a closed one, check for restrictions like working location or employer.
Don't risk losing everything if you have an employer restriction. It doesn't mean you have to keep that. It means ONLY that employer.

I didn't get aor or file number since my file received in November 22, 2018. Is that normal not to have file number under pr process (with ainp approval)?

Hello
I followed this thread all day today . Just need to know few things if you can just shed some light? The case is about my brother and his family . Outland applicant for FSW Dec, 2014. Yes, you read it right. Anyways the case was simple but rejected somehow n reopened between Oct 2017 to January 2018.They got the Medical request in October 2018, passed and RPRF request on November 7 , which was paid the very next day. It’s been 70 days almost so i reached out to my MO and he told that Every stage is passed but they are just waiting for the final decision ? I need to know what it means ? The file is processing and they are working on it, which i understand but what is Final Decision ? How they work on final decision ?

Spoke to CIC.
AOR - Oct 19th. CEC.
Eligibility - Recommended Pass.
Criminality - Under process. Submitted RCMP PCC ADR on 7th Jan, like after 50 days since ADR Requested. Still under review from past two weeks. Agent said they are looking into it :/
Security - NOT STARTED.

Can anybody tell how long Security Process can take? I am at IP2 Stage. When can I expect PPR? Hope this helps others.
You would be better off posting in the EE forum. This forum is for PNP applicants who mostly went through the paper-based route. It is a completely different process.

Thank you for the forum, It was really helpful.

My application was received on May 5th 2017 (20 months ago!) and You are still checking whether I meet the eligibility requirements as shown in my account ... No comment ! This is nothing but carelessness from the staff.

I got married after submitting my application to a Canadian citizen, submitted my Marriage certificate and my wife's passport ID page copy, anything else needed?

What can I do to get them:
1- Agree about my "eligibility" (I did Masters at UBC in Electrical Engineering, graduated and worked immediately for a high tech US company in BC, Microsemi Corp) Everything is documented ...
2- My account still says, we are reviewing your additional documents you have sent. I sent those 6 months ago ... how to speed this up?
3- Background check (I won't argue about it)

And after this unknown period I'll have to wait, Will I start counting again for Citizenship while others just got their PR in 2 months and are now citizens? or are you going to include those years (which was not my fault)

Heart breaking ...

Sorry to hear about your case but I would say it's your fault as well as other people in this thread when choosing not to go with Express Entry. You got a Master's from UBC and Canadian work experience, I believe you won't need to achieve CLB 9, thus EE should be easy.

I have seen people ditching PNP then got their PR after 2 months through EE. My guess is CIC picks up the processing (background, criminal...) from PNP to EE. So it's faster than the normal 6 months of EE, and your PNP waiting time would not be totally a waste.

Adding spouse to your application will add the background, criminal check for that person too. If you add that person early, your and that person's background check can happen in parallel, thus saving time. If people add their spouse near the end of 19 months, then don't ask CIC to pass your application soon, it's ridiculous and stupid. Those people should be thankful for the 19 months length, because they've got a choice to not go through the spouse sponsorship program instead.

In your case, it comes to whether you want to save the application fee for EE. I believe you will receive like half of the CIC-PNP application fee refunded from withdrawal. To me, $600-ish EE application fee is dirt cheap to become a Canadian PR.

Thanks for your response,
I wasn't eligible for EE when I just graduated (I didn't have a single day work experience at that time).
My spouse is Canadian living in Canada (why the background check be difficult? I added her in september 2017, not at the end of the 19 months at all)

Are you sure I can switch my app to EE without restarting everything again? They won't ask me to repeat IELTS or re issue all my documents? If so I'll certainly go for it.

Hi Dear,
Eligibility always remains the same untill the final decision has been made. I passed my eligibility (i know because i called cic and confirm from the cic agent) and it still shows “we are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements”.
So worry not.

The best way is to call cic and speak to an agent.

I don't think they need background check for Canadian spouse. It's just your luck, but I think you're very close already. For EE, you will need to retake IELTS if it's expired.

Hi,
Unfortunately, when you add a spouse, it is almost as if you started a new application on the date they received. So count 19 months from there.

There is a case where a person added the spouse 1 day after getting the PPR. The PPR was revoked and the application reset. It was almost as if that person had misrepresented. So the sooner, the better. It doesn't matter the citizenship of the spouse, even if he/she is Canadian-born, 5th generation Canadian or became Canadian. The process is the same.

You cannot switch your application to EE, but you can start a new one. If you are eligible, they way things go, it looks like it would be way faster. At least you can have the RPRF refunded if you paid in advance.

And your time in Canada still counts towards citizenship before you get the PR, up to a limit of 1 or 1.5 years, can't remember. But anyway, as soon as you get the PR and you plan to live here, that won't matter much, you will eventually become a citizen 2 or 1.5 years later, which is nothing, compared to all you had to wait.

I just checked the processing time for spouse sponsorship program is 12 months. So it's still faster than 19 months lol. How ironic that everything is faster than CIC-PNP, though PNP inlands are people already adapted here, contributing and paying tax to Canada.
