Hi.. This also regarding the police clearance from HK.
I'm planning to get it ahead of time, though i havent apply my open work permit yet (should be this July or August) does anyone know if i can do it by May? Or this should be done while my open work permit application is on process? Coz i just want to prepare all the documents needed ahead just in case you know..
I've heard that there should be a letter from CIC stating the requesting for the said clearance, so does it mean that i really can not get one ahead?
Thanks a lot..
Your reply will be much appreciated.

Yes, i did!

Im just wondering which request letter they are asking for you? :'(
I know this thread is a little old, but may I know what kind of cover letter are you talking about here? I'm in the midst of requesting Police Certificate from HK but they require me to provide a letter from CIC as well :( Is it just this the PC_LetterA?

Thank you so much!

Hello everyone,

I am applying for 2 years Canada Visa for work and as I was in HK for 10 months the Canada consulate has asked for police certificate from HK police dept.

I understood the procedure and everything, the only thing which I am not able to understand that how should i get the fingerprints done for my forms.

I know, its really a very old thread but any help will appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @ashishInd

I went to the CID office fingerprint department in my city, told them to give me my fingerprints on FIB format. They took my fingerprints, verified at their end and gave me the copy of my fingerprints on that format paper. ( It may require 4 days along with minimal fees to the office)

I did a fedex to respective police department of HK which is mentioned on the canada immigration page, along with passport copy, a handwritten application for requesting to send my PCC to the canada immigrtions directly (which should contain your postal and email address to contact) , along with my HK id copy, and my addess proof of HK, a document which was received from canada immigrtions asking for PCC, because this document contain the address to where the PCC has to be sent and finally a cheque in HK currency (for this you can also make a DD and send)

After this I took followup from the HK police department weekly. Basically it takes 3 to 4 weeks as it is a normal process. Once the PCC is sent you will also get reply from HK police department.

Please let me know if you need more information on the same.

Thanks

Thanks a lot Pratibha @PratibhaMishra for a very detailed response. Really help :)
We need to do this after application is submitted, right ?
Also, does Canada immigrations asks everyone for a PCC from HK or is it on a case to case basis.

Hi @ashishInd,

I think its common for all the applications. And this process arrives when once the application is submitted to consulate. Also an heads up, i applied through express process for canada visa, but due this step it got delayed by one month. So keep time buffer when you apply.

You can also request the immigrations to wait when once you have submitted all the document to HK police department, they do wait as they are also aware of the process timeline.

Do let me know if you need any help on this.

Thanks

Thanks Pratibha,
Just to clarify, this needs to be done after submission of all documents as part of ITA ? So, when i apply after ITA, Canada Visa department will give me the letter for sending to HK police department ?
Also, how do we contact the CID department ? Do they provide fingerprinting as a service ? @PratibhaMishra

Hi @ashishInd
Yes this process takes place once you have submitted all the documents, because the letter asking for PCC has to come from Canada Consulate to you.
Further, search a CID office in your city; for me I searched in my city that is Pune, went there requested them so that I can meet the fingerprinting department authority and further asked them for this help.
There are already cases with them for visa and PCC for other countries, so it won't be difficult for them to understand your scenario. They might need few documents on your address proof, passport copy, Aadhar copy, handwritten application asking for the fingerprints for sending it to HK Police Department.

The main thing is that HK Police department wants our fingerprints from the government authority which should be signed and attested by the person who is taking the fingerprints.

CID Fingerprint department can give the fingerprints right away, but they just have to make a verification from their own record on us for non criminal act.

Note : You can also go RCMP who are present in your city and take the fingerprints, instead of going through this process. ( Why I went to CID : Cause the fees at RCMP office was way to much for me )

I hope this helps.

Please ask me if you need more help on this.

Thanks
