Can working holiday count as Canadian work experience?

Hi all. I've been searching around and I can't quite seem to find what I'm looking for.

We want to increase points for my EE profile and one of the options we're considering is obtaining an OWP (or working holiday) and that way we can enter the country and work.

However I've read that the NOC for any OWP job must be 9999 and therefor I'm concerned it won't count as valid work experience for my applied NOC for EE.

Can anybody clarify if working on OWP will allow me to claim Canadian work experience? Cheers.

Yes work while doing IEC counts. That is how many young Europeans, Kiwis and Aussies work in Canada and many end up staying.

You should be using the NOC code that corresponds to your work experience for EE.

It states that all Working Holiday jobs are NOC 9999 only.

However in the CRS, the specific question regarding work experience in Canada must be NOC 00, A, or B. Of course my intention is to work in my respective field, but that page suggests that NOC 9999 is not 'real' experience.

Am I over thinking this?

Only a guess but I read that as a coding showing that a WHV is not NOC classification or job specific so a true open work permit where you work in any field with no preconditions.

On the other hand Coop or YP are job and/or NOC classification specific. Looking at this another way if this was an issue then the forums would be full of people asking the same question, noticeably there are none. Only advice might be to ensure you work in jobs that are classified as 0,A or B. for a year before you apply for anything as far as PR is concerned.

That seems like the code you use while applying for the working holiday programs. When you apply for EE you use the regular NOC codes.
