Travel insurance for pr holders?

Yes, you can get a travel insurance policy for Canadian residents travelling out of province as long as your government insurance coverage is active (i.e. OHIP in Ontario, MSP in BC, etc.). You should have it active for as long as you are on a trip outside your province of residence.

Mine is not active yet and i will need to cover me in the same province while i wait for the province medical insurance

I agree with kprs_ind Manulife, Destination Canada and Travelance they all have pretty good coverage. I would go with Destination Canada as their prices are more affordable. Here you can compare plans/prices/coverage details and decide which company to go with.
