thank you man, I did not get my travel document yet. That question was for another friend. I have no interest to travel abroad at least until I get my PR. But if you apply by mail you will get it in 3-4 weeks

Secondly if you want see who is fake or real just go to any shelter house you'll see in them visitors who are enjoying their paid vacations not refugees. This is my personal experience that is why I'm sure about it. Even most of them didn't knew what is the reason of persecution which brings them here to safe their lives.

Again i disagree with you. Its entirely upto to the refugee board to determine whose claim is real of fake.

Just a question, so does it mean before the interview is a refugee claimant given a work permit to work full time? Is it to any state/province? In case of expiry, is it possible to renew? Thanks

After you complete your medical test, you can apply for work permit which is issued within ~6 weeks if submitted online, ~ 8 weeks if submitted by mail. This work permit is open which means you can work for any employer, anywhere in Canada. The permit is usually valid for 1 year which can be extended (same applies to your SIN) until you become a PR.

Dear after youconplete your medical test, you can apply for work permit ,my advice to apply it via online , and you will get it within 3 weeks .. but if you applied bymail you will get it from 2-3 months... validy of work permit 2 years , after you get it , then you go to canada service to get the sin card ..after that you can work

I think now they giving 2 years work permits due to IRB backlog. I got 2 years work permit.

Hello everyone I finally finished my Basis of claim and all forms and I am going in tomorrow to hand them all in and finally apply.

Can anyone tell me:

- How long does first appointment take? Will I have to spend the three day there?

- Also eligibility i.e. second interview, how long does this take? The entire day? or a few hours?

Any help appreciated thank you

First appointment will take you from at least an hour to a few (depending on the queue)
Eligibility interview consists of two parts, the first part will take max an hour then there is small break and after that you'll go to the next part where you'll receive your new proof of satus (i.e Refugee Claimant Document) and other documents.
Niether of the two occasions will require you to stay in wherever you're applying for more than a day.
P.s I'm talking from my experience in Ottawa
