Do you have to have the job for a full 6 months, or will a letter from your employer stating you will be employed for at least 6 months be enough for eligibility?

I've read conflicting things and am thoroughly confused.

As far as I know, a letter that an employer intends to employ someone for at least 6 months as a full-time worker is enough to satisfy the requirement for OHIP. However, the best thing to do is to call Service Ontario and confirm it with the official source. You should find contact information here - http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/publications/ohip/temp_foreign.aspx

Your employer should indicate on the employment letter his intention that his is hiring you, length of time , 6 months or more for full time, and you can apply immediately, you DON'T GAVE TO WAIT 6 months to apply, you will have to wait 3 MONTHS to get your OHIP coverage.
