Hi,

I am not sure for citizenship. But I faced same kind of situation while applying for my PR. I have submitted my passport and later on I have updated CIC once I got my new passport. If you want want to avoid these difficulties, you can renew your passport and then send citizenship application.

Hi,
My understanding is that you have to declare all active passports you've held in the last 5 years- it doesn't matter that they are expiring soon. No point of renewing as you'll get Canadian passports soon unless any of the following applies to you:
1. You need to travel before receiving Canadian citizenship, OR
2. Your current country of citizenship allows dual citizenship and you'll renew your current passport even after Canadian citizenship; so might as well renew passports before current ones expire.

Even though you may plan to renew your passports, you can still submit citizenship app; there is no further role of your current passports in the process except for mentioning last 5 year passports.
