My daughter is trying to sponsor me to enter Canada but it is taking ages. WE were all sorted then she moved to Quebec, endless more forms tax payslips? I have enough pension to live on. Why are these not taken into account when assessing the financial requirements for my sponsor.

As a condition of sponsorship, the individual sponsoring must prove they have sufficient income to support the parents/grandparents they have applied to bring to Canada. This is a basic requirement for sponsorship. The Canadian who is sponsoring is the one who enters into an agreement with IRCC to support the family members they are sponsoring. This is why the parents' income / assets are not taken into consideration.

Thanks, I guess I knew that. It still doesn't make sense to me though.
The majority of parents/grandparents that are sponsored to Canada do not have the capability of supporting themselves. The program was closed and overhauled several years ago because it was found that a huge amount of sponsored parents/grandparents were going on welfare. Income requirements were increased and the undertaking extended to 20 years to ensure that sponsors supported their parents/grandparents instead of Canada. IRCC is not going to create two classes of PGP sponsorship based on whether an applicant can support themselves or not, so the rule applies to everyone.
