Reference letter should be in the format IRCC has mentioned in thier website.Salary slips and bank statement should suffice. Form-16 is not mandatory.
Reference letter is having job duties, working hours n designation on company letterhead with company info.

That won't be a problem. It is showing so because at the time you got your passport, you were single
Today PSK guys denied PCC n saying get passport renewed with spouse name.
If I get my passport renewed, will it b a problem since IELTS report has current passport number.

Please suggest

Hi seniors,

My experience certificate shows date from 1st May 2015 to 30th April 2016. Both of these dates were my working days. Is this time period considered as 1 full year experience?
Certificate also consists of information such as full time position with 40-42 hrs per week.

you should get maximum points. you are well over 36 months of full time work experience. as long as you can provide reference letters for each of these, you'll be fine.

Thanka lot for the quick response.
I was curious about this as a lawyer told me that I cannot claim the 7 months of work experience since it is not continuous for 1 year.

well that is true, but as long as you have completed 1 year in any acceptable NOC trade, the rest after that are cumulative.

Hi ,

I have similar questions. Can anyone please help me here?

I have worked in 3 different profiles and all fall under different skill type. Also, none of the profile has 3 years complete.

  • A. Test Engineer --------------- Dec 2010 to Apr 2013 ( 2 yr 4 months ) --------> 2173 Software Engineers and Designers, Skill type A
  • B. Social Worker ---------------------------- May 2013 to May 2015 ( 2 years ) -------------> 4152 Social workers, Skill Type A
  • C. Program Manager, Education ------ Jun 2015 to Jan 2018 ( 2 years ,7 months) ----------> 0423 Managers in social, community and correctional services, Skill Type 0
CIC official tool says ----- 'In the last 10 years, how many total years of skilled work experience do you have? It must have been paid, full-time (or an equal amount in part-time), and in only one occupation (NOC skill type 0, A or B)'.

My questions are ---
  1. How much skilled work experience will be counted for for CRS in EE profile ...is it A + B + C or A+B (as C is in skill type 0) ?
  2. If the answer to above question is A+B, then what should be my primary NOC ---- can it still be C (as that is my most recent experience and will help me search for jobs in Job Bank)?
Kindly reply

Work experience can be calculated by adding up the number of weeks of full-time (or equivalent) paid work, for example:
  • 30 hours/37.5 hours per week in one job, or a total of at least 30 hours/37.5 hours per week in more than one job) in one or more skilled occupations at:
    • Skill Type 0 (Managerial occupations);
    • Skill Level A (Professional occupations); or
    • Skill Level B (Technical occupations and skilled trades) of the NOC.
  • Work experience must be acquired over a period of at least one year; work in excess of 30 hours/37.5 hours per week over a shorter period cannot compensate for any shorter overall period of experience.
Skill A, B, & 0 treated the same (see bold). So you can add your experience for 'In the last ten years, how many years of skilled work experience in Canada do you have?' question if those were in Canada.
Where you are seeing "and in only one occupation" is for 'In the last 10 years, how many total years of skilled work experience do you have?'. You appear to have 2 in worst case scenario where the max is 3 or more years for that question. The difference is 2 points. Are you that close that 2 points will make or break you? If so, best to be conservative and put 2.

Hi All

To obtain max. points in CRS, we need an experience of >= 3 years. Though I have filled that in my application but following is the situation :

I have obtained Experience letter in the desired format from 2 Firms highlighting relevant experience as per the NOC 1122 for following period :
  1. Firm 1 - 2 July'15 to 10 Jan'17 (1yr, 6 mnths, 8 days) i.e. 399 Working days & assuming 10 holidays, remaining days = 389. Assuming 40 hrs per week we get Total Hrs = 15,560 Hrs
  2. Firm 2 - 21-Feb'17 to 17 Aug'18 (1 yr, 5 mnths, 26 days) i.e. 389 Working days & assuming 10 holidays, remaining days = 379. Assuming 40 hours per week Total Hrs = 15,160 Hrs
Total Hours = 30,720 hours (These are assuming 20 holidays in this period). My questions are as follows :
  1. Is this sufficient to obtain maximum points as per CRS criteria? Does it meet >3 years threshold ?
  2. How is the experience calculated? No of years, months, hours ?
  3. I have already requested for a letter from Firm 3 (> 2yrs) but it is taking time. Should I push for that or above 2 meet the requirement ?
  4. Is there any other way to showcase experience ? Letter from a Manager in Firm 3 or showing Experience/Relieving letter/Payslips etc.?
Please suggest the best solution possible to ensure I meet the >= 3 years criteria. Thanks

Hello Everyone ,

I am planning to claim 4 yrs work exp in order to get the 67/100 points to be eligible to apply for express entry . After I meet the eligibility criteria do I have to claim for all the 4 yrs ?( In crs anything above 3 yrs gets same points ). Also one of my work experience is for 8 months which is less than a year , Would I be able to add the 8 months experience as well ?

Hi Everyone,

I have total work experience below is a break down:

Employment 1: Feb. 2016 - Dec. 2016 - NOC 2171 - Paid Full-Time (40 Hours) - Employer A - Software Quality Assurance Engineer
Employment 2: May 2017 - June 2018 - NOC 2171 - Paid Full-Time (40 Hours) - Employer A - Software Quality Assurance Engineer
Employment 3: July 2018 - Current - NOC 2174 - Paid Full-Time (40 Hours) - Employer B - Software Engineer II

I was recently told that I can't claim points for my Employment 1 as it is not continuous 1 year. But I have two other employments which are of continuous 1 year - Employment 2 and Employment 3.

Per Express Entry requirement, I am allowed to claim points for all my employment if worked Full-Time at 1 job for continuous 1 year. Are there any concerns for me not to claim points for Employment 1?

I have created my profile and entered these Work Experience as above and got points for 3 years total. Do I have to remove my Employment 1?

Before June 1 2019, my CRS score was 426 and now its 451. I gained 25 more points to complete 3 years it seems.

Below is from my profile:
Your score is based on your education, job experience and relevant qualifications (for trade occupations).

Skill transferability
Criteria Score
CRS - Skill Transferability - Education 50
CRS - Skill Transferability - Foreign Work Experience 50
CRS - Skill Transferability - Certificate of Qualification 0

Any help would be appreciable!!

Hi Experts,

I want to understand the calculation of work experience. I have 20 hours part time work for 16 weeks will it be calculated as 8 week full time work equivalent or 10.6 weeks full time. If I go by no. of hours then it comes out to be 10.6 weeks. It's nowhere mentioned if the work experience is part time maximum no. of per week will be 15 hours. Please clarify.

Thanks in advance.
