If i visit a bank in Toronto on day 1...can i get account opened .deposit cash the same day ? how long does it take ?

what about debit card and cheque books ?

Took me 20 minutes, debit card probably 10 days. Can't remember, been a while

same day in few branches . most of the banks entertain only pre-appointment cases . u need ur SIN , ur passport and Copr or pr card .

You can open the account same day, takes 15 to 20 mins. You will get your debit card right then and there (most of the banks). they program it and set it up for you. Cheques: you will have to order later, 50/100 leaves booklet...
