Hello, friends.
I want to warn all immigrants and newcomers about a popular scam for money in Canada.

Prehistory:
As soon as we immigrated to Canada, my wife began to look for work, after some time she was offered the position of Personal Assistant for a businessman who works in the world and needs a person in Canada who will coordinate over Canada. For a week, he gave her "tasks" for a look. Then I sent her a check for 3000 CAD. He said that 1000 CAD is a salary for 2 weeks, and 2000 CAD we need to send further to the Philippines. We came with a non-valid check to the bank, where we cashed it. We sent 2000 CAD further to the Philippines. After 3 days we have 3 000 CAD on our bank account.

It turns out the check was not valid. The bank issues the money and only then draws the money from the payer, can not withdraw from the payer, then draws the money from the person to whom they were given.

Update:
A little over a month ago I was in search of work and submitted to different office positions. And today I received an identical letter with the identical text that he sent to my wife - "zamanuha" to work.
I publish the text of the letter below. Please be careful and I hope my message will save you from our bitter experience. * The only difference in letters is another name and e-mail address. *

So, I need an assistant to handle dealings for me on the home front when away on business which is habitually quite often. I need someone who can be able to reply to Emails in a prompt manner and has good communication skills.

This is just an explanatory message, as time goes on we should be able to arrange a proper meeting upon my arrival. I do have a number of things you could help me with this week if you will be within reach for me. If you're interested in the offer, this could act as a good start to our working consanguinity.

There are many different versions of this scam.

Any situation where someone overpays you by cheque (not cash or other confirmed method of payment like bank draft) and then expect you to return or pay forward any portion of the amount especially under high pressure, should be viewed with considerable suspicion. I have seen these scams in rentals, jobs, even for personal trainers being hired.

Some other indicators to watch out for :
- you deal with many different people, typically not just one.
- The cheque you receive is often from some obscure seemingly unrelated company. (When verified the company will likely exist but have no knowledge of the cheque issued.)
- The phone numbers are odd often international numbers. (Multiple numbers are also often used) - Watch out for international texting also. If your phone plan does not include this you will likely end up paying for a bunch of international texts.

If you do see something like this, be sure to contact the local RCMP and report the same. They are usually interested in getting more information or at the very least will direct you on organizations that track and report on these.

Please read the email below which I received as a job offer. When we apply for several jobs, we get so many scam jobs as well, which I have been receiving as well. It can be easily recognizable. They email you again and again for the job acceptance and by describing extremely high wages. If you are smart enough, you can easily pick these scammers. I started a conversation with the job offer I received(mentioned below) and I was continuously asking for the office address and about the business where they stopped replying me. Please be aware of such scammers while you are in need of a job. Always follow your gut instinct and ask for your doubts about the job. Look for the job description that I received through an email.
