Where do young professionals working in Kitchener-Waterloo (Ontario) typically live?

I’m contemplating a job offer in the Kitchener - Waterloo (KW) area, but, have apprehensions of it being more of a university/college town. I’m looking for recommendations to facilitate a probable move. A few points I’d want to factor in-

(i) Considering I’m moving from a large city (not inclined towards a suburban life), and, I’ll be new to Canada, I’d like to have access to a fairly active social life and a demographic that is widely younger working professionals

(ii) Is a daily commute from Toronto to KW even feasible?

No you'd be crazy to willingly commute from Toronto to KW daily. There is a relatively active tech scene there but yes it is smaller city. With the cost of living being much lower you can stay in Toronto for the weekend if you want to go out.

Some people who work in KW have elected to live in Milton, Ontario. This town is not too far from KW but allows for access to Toronto as well.

The only means of commuting from Toronto to KW through mass transit that I am aware of is the Greyhound bus. Even this is restrictive as there are only a select few stops in KW and the schedule is limited.

I agree that you should take the offer and reside in KW cheaply. Then you can party in TO on the weekends.
