hi guys,

Just received the application update on my TRV. It's rejected :(.
the timeline is :

Online Application Submission: 21st July
Received : 22nd July
Acknowledgement , application number and UCI : 22nd July
Decision: Refused - 08th august.

The rejection letter is sent from CPC-Ottawa.

Reasons for rejection:
1. Travel History - this is the obvious thing. I had Maldivies and Singapore stamps in my passport. nothing else.
2. Financial status - this is confusing. I am a software engineer working in a MNC for the past four years and submitted the employer letter, leave letter for the duration of trip(8 days), pay slips and last 3 years of income tax returns. Also i showed my property documents, 5000 CAD in my bank account and bank statements for the past 6 months. I even submitted my husband's employment and income proofs from Canada. we showed round trip air tickets as well. now its gonna be hell cancelling those.
3. Purpose of visit - i think this one is also a reason eventhough i mentioned it's a short visit of 8 days to celebrate our first marriage anniversary together and we submitted all kinds of proofs to ensure my return to india.

I am not sure what to do now. Just ordered the GCMS notes to see the detailed reasons for refusal. Once I receive it, may be i will try and update my documentation according to that and reapply for the TRV again. I have my PR in progress and it's going to take for ever and the TRV got rejected.
It's is a serious blow for our plans. we have to cancel all the hotel, resort and flight bookings. :( :( :(
Sorry to hear the same. Your financial status, ties in home country(leave letter, pay-stubs and employment letter), Travel history are good and it is quite surprising to see refusal in your case

IMO, you had a weak application and a TRV refusal was expected. I doubt GCMS notes is going to reveal anything extraordinary.

The key reason for your TRV refusal:
You have a PR application in process and IRCC knows you want to avoid waiting it out in India. This is frowned upon.

Even if we do not consider your PR application:

1. Travel History:
Travel to countries like Maldives and Singapore which are liberal in issuing visas to everyone, do not count as travel history. It would have helped if you had previously traveled to countries like the US, UK, Schengen, Australia, NZ, etc for similar purpose of visit.

Your application would have immediately triggered the question: Why do you want to visit Canada?
Answer: To avoid waiting it out in India until you get a PR decision.

2. Financials:
Your financials of CAD 5,000 are on the low side. Of course, your husband would have paid for everything.... but nonetheless, you don't have a strong financial situation that would compel you to return to India and/or to your employment.

3. Purpose of visit:
Your application has the 'I do not want to wait it out in India' written all over it (at least to the visa officer). S/he knows that no one will spend a good deal of money for a 8-days visit + you certainly won't return to India after the 8 days' visit (you would apply for extensions until you get your PR)

I suggest you do not reapply for a TRV until your PR processing seems closer to a decision

My PR file is already with the Indian visa office and I must be in India for the process to be completed. I can't wait it out in Canada and risk my PR thats's getting processed in India. I specifically mentioned this in the cover letter.

And as for the financials including the salaries, income tax returns, bank statements and other usual stuff, i also showed the original bank letter containing 5000 CAD liquid cash and almost 25000 CAD worth of holdings that can be liquidated anytime. The letter also indicated the average balance that never went below 4000 CAD in the past two years. I have been busy with my studies and then a job search and then job..and so on. Now i am in a very important position and if i get to move to Canada as PR I will be working in the onshore part of my project from the same company. I will not risk loosing this job as well. I must return to India at any cost to take care of all these things. I submitted proofs for each of these claims and still when they said financial reasons... it all sounded BS to me.

About the travel history, not everyone will have a travel history. I have a valid business Visa to US but there was no travel though. And I am just 24.. who the hell expects a world trip from someone my age. I was busy with my studies and employment. I even gave an explanation letter as to why i do not possess a considerable travel history. They just don't want to give the TRV to spouses. That's it.

Regarding the purpose of visit. if the visa officer had eyes he would have noticed our marriage date last year and i was asking for the same dates this year. This is going to be our first anniversary and a very special one since we never got to spend much time together after our marriage. i uploaded the travel itinerary with all confirmed resort, hotel and flight bookings, leave letter from my employer and my spouse's for the same period, marriage certificate and the worst part.. i literally asked even for the slightest consideration of a single entry for just these eight days. It has been a year since we got married and its gonna take at least six more months for the PR to get processed.

I might have a better shot at meeting my husband in US as we both possess visiting visas for it.
The system in US is much better i would say. Even a person on work permit can take his wife to stay with him and all the process will take less than 10 days. yeah, the dependent cannot work.. but still they get to stay together. The Canadian immigration system is very slow and family reunification is given the least importance contradicting to what they say out there.

@Bryanna seriously need your advice for my application!
I have applied Paper Based (New Delhi) on 5th July 2018.
Got Acknowledgement on 9th July 2018.
2nd Acknowledgment on 30th July 2018.
The issue I am facing is that I mentioned in my cover letter that my leaves are approved from 10th july till 26th july 2018.
My travel plan also includes travel to Europe 7 days and travel to Canada 7 days.
Now I am stuck because my actually plan was to travel 10th august Night flight.
But I have not received my passport as of now....What to do :(

It's a bit of a difficult situation.

Did you include evidence of your Europe visas + flight bookings when you applied?
Did you send the email to NDVO to request for your passport to be returned to you without cancelling your current application?

IMO, there are two options:
1. You may want to consider postponing your Europe trip if you have refundable tickets/date change is allowed. Hopefully, your TRV will be issued in the meanwhile, or

2. You could send an email marked as 'Urgent' to NDVO to request for your passport to be returned before the end of day tomorrow to VFS Delhi. You would mention you're not cancelling your application

hi guys .
My sister / citizen of canada/ who lives in Calgary Canada with her husband and 2 kids invited my brother and my mother for a 3 months visit. She owns a house that has enough rooms for everyone and they both has a good jobs and backgrounds.

So my mom and brother applied visa on 2nd of August for 3 months visitor visa.

Visa application, tracking ID No. 20180803MNULT******** has been forwarded to the Canada Visa Application centre, Ulaanbaatar on 09/08/2018.

So we called vfs and they asked us to come pick it up on monday.

We are nervous. The timing seems short. Please has anyone received a good news in this kind of short period
