Hello everyone,

I have over 8 years teaching TESOL and am planning to move to Toronto soon.

Anyone know of any good English schools or places I could work doing TESOL there?

Thank you,

Zeppo

The best thing you can do is search for language programs here: https://settlement.org/ or here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/services/index.asp

Wherever they are teaching English to newcomers, would be a good place to go ask. Also, sometimes they only hire former students (as was the case where I used to work and the centre where I will do my practicum) so check out ESL/EAL volunteering opportunities. I know this is less than ideal, why would you give your skills away for free, etc. but in Canada it seriously makes a big difference if you start by volunteering, especially for any services to newcomers.

You need to get recognised by TESL Canada and Ontario first. The competition is super tough.
Agreed with this. And also agree there's a huge amount of competition in this space in Toronto. Very difficult to secure positions...
