Hello Friends,

I am a Canada PR holder and I am going to file my wife Sponsorship. Currently she is working in US but may travel to different location inside or outside county after I file the application. How will I notify CIC about the change and how will it affect the application?

I read on forums that she can travel to Canada on Visitor VISA, is she eligible to file work permit here?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi everyone!

After 3 years living in Brazil with my wife (who is the sponsor) we decided to apply. After roughly 2 months gathering, translating documents and filling the forms, we finished or process and sent my application today through DHL. Best of luck for us all! =D

Hey there,

As far as I know, if you want your wife to be with you and stay with you during the process:
  1. First prepare ALL your paperworks/application.
  2. Apply for the Police Check from all the countries that your wife lived over six month and country of her birth, and have the Police check ready in hand.
  3. Once all the paper works are ready, have her come to Canada and send your application to Sydney, Nova Scotia.
  4. If the application is complete, it will take almost 60 days for IRCC to acknowledge the receipt of your application, if lucky, 40 t0 56 days.
  5. I believe the same time of submitting your application, you can apply for the work permit for her too. If not, you can apply after the submission of the application.
  6. If you follow this way, you are applying for an INLAND application which may take 18 to 24 month, I am not sure about the time line, but you can research more and find out.
  7. In this case, your wife can stay with you till the decision on your application is MADE.
If your wife is not going to stay with you during the process, you may consider applying for an OUTLAND application.

For outland application you mostly have to follow above instructions, except your wife won't be staying with you and the process will take about 12 month.

Research more about an INLAND and OUTLAND applications and then decide what is best for you.

Dont take my words for granted, research research and research.

Good luck.

INLAND gives you the opportunity of applying for an OWP, but I don't know if the timeline has changed. I remember when i first look at it, prior to December 2016 I think and this process was way longer than the OUTLAND (like 12 months for OUTLAND and 24 for INLAND); however, I believe that things are going a little faster now and at least on CIC website the timeline for both process are now 12 months. I think now they are using all VO to evaluate processes and according to their website even though I am Brazilian it doesn't mean that my application will be processed here.

I just cheked the 2018 outland spreadsheet here. Many people are getting the AOR1 within 30 to 40 days and not in 45 to 60 days... maybe things are getting faster with the Sydney CPC!

Hi all! Help!
I'm currently in Egypt and my sister in Canada will be sending my spouse sponsorship application package to Sydney. She totally let me down and didn't get it to Shopper's before the post office closed. I want to get the package there quickly but it's now the weekend. I looked on the DHL and FedEx website and it said that shipping from Winnipeg to Sydney (B1P0H5) is unavailable. What is my best option to get it there the quickest possible sending from Winnipeg on a Saturday?

We used Priority service of Canada Post. They guarantee next business day delivery.
I read that Missisauga office doesn't receive packages on weekends, I'm not sure if the same rule applies to Sydney office too.

Same here in Brazil; if I didn't have the package ready, I would have to wait until Monday to send it through DHL. I guess that Canada Post would be open Saturday, since I remember that my wife and I sent our wedding invitations on a Saturday (it was 3 years ago, tho).
Are you heading to Winnipeg (where your sister lives) when you get your PR?

Canada Post is open on the weekend but I don't know if they actually start processing. I want our package to arrive at Sydney on Monday not sent out from Winnipeg on Monday. I'm wondering if any courtier services do this but for some reason my postal code to Sydney was unavailable. I am so stressed out over this application process.

Yes. We're Winnipeg bound to start off. I was born and raised there. I'm open to living anywhere in Canada though. Where are you headed?

Oh, I get it... they might collect it but not process the package until Monday.

My wife is from Winnipeg and for sure it is our first stop, but I don't think we will really stay there a long time, mainly because of my career... I am trying a transfer within my company and it is likely that we would be heading to other provinces like Alberta, Ontario or BC.
