TRV from Egypt may actually take longer.
in fact, the visa office doesn't make that big difference as you think
The employer has to submit a full package application to Canadian labor market first, then prepare a full package application for a work permit.
whatever visa office you will apply for has to perform a background check on your husband and you in all countries you lived in since 10 years ago. you will see that they will ask for a police fingerprints certificate (feesh w tashbeh) in all countries you lived in for the past 10 years.
these are procedures and whatever visa office your document will go to it will follow the same process

in addition, the employer submit the TRV/Work permit for you, you don't have the option to choose which office.

again, everything comes to this statement

Be Patient, Don't panic, expect a long process (a year almost)

another note you have to consider, you are mashallah mashallah mashallah lucky to get a work permit from Canada. this is really a rare case to find among Egyptians so mashallah 3alykom w rabna ye7roskom mn el3een :)

I wish you and your husband all the luck and we are always here to help you through the process as much as we can :)
Thanks alot for all the information.
Well the HR just called us and told us they will investigate with the lawyer and if processing time is more than 2-3 months they will not be able to go ahead with the job offer so this is where we face the issue.

We wish everybody Ramadan Kareem! I have a question regarding the Supplementary Information - Your travels IMM5562. It says it needs to be filled out by the principal applicant which is my husband. I am sponsoring him under family class. He hasn't traveled but I have. Does he have to fill out my travel history under section b) spouse or common law partner? or not because I am the sponsor?
I think CIC has improved the quality of forms over the years but some things are still very confusing...
Same question under the Additional family information IMM5406 - does he have to list me under spouse there too?

Thanks for your help and sharing your experiences!

Hi Tasirmans!!
I didn't fill IMM5562, it would had be a nightmare. I just wrote "Not applicable". I'm pretty sure you don't need to fill your travel history since you're the sponsor. :) But for IMM506, I added my name, it's only one line to fill so it doesn't hurt... Good luck!

I still advise being on the safe side and fill out the information required, you don't want to jeopardize the application to be incomplete and cause more delays

Imm5562 is to be filled by PA not sponsor. PR is for PA not for sponsor. That's what I did and my file is at VO

...aaaand this is exactly why it is so confusing. My instinct is that since I’m not applying for PR although I am the spouse, my travels doesn’t matter... and it seems various applicants have interpreted it differently and some have filled it and some- haven’t. I have travelled abroad at least once a year, sometimes twice, so it’s a nightmare to trace back 10 years of travelling.

I just received the "Request for Passports" letter and the instructions were to send it by courier directly to the Visa Section - Canadian Embassy in Cairo .... No mention of VFS.

Hello,

I was going to ask about the certification of the passport copies and the translation of the IDs, when I saw Tasirmans question on Apr 7, 2018.

Regarding the passports:

From what I understood, a copy of the new version of passport does NOT need certification. Is that correct?
Cause in the Country specific requirements regarding Egypt, it is mentioned that Official and civil documents must be certified copies.

I did some digging about the certification, but with no luck. Some translation offices claim that their stamp would do the job. I highly doubt that. Plus, the ministry of Foreign Affairs won't stamp the copies as a "true copy".

Any solid input in the regards will be highly appreciated.

Regarding the national IDs:

Hrubmo recommended “North Cairo Court for First Instance, Department of translation” but unfortunately, I am in Alexandria.
I tried the ministry of Justice here but also with no luck. They said the ID doesn’t get translated as the passport is a legal replacement with all the information in English. Except the ID number itself of course. It was a dead end.

Any one can pitch in with useful information Please?
I don’t have much faith in any private translation offices as it is highly unregulated market. Anyone can claim anything. Unlike the government translations which I try to stick to.

Thank you,
You can translate the national ID at any translation office. I am from Alexandria as well and I used certified translators for all my documents.

No worries. Thanks for the effort, much appreciated.

I managed to find someone who will translate the IDs for me at North Cairo Court. He will get the Foreign affairs certification stamps done as well. That issue is resolved I guess.

Regarding the passports, the CIC website for checklist, forms and instructions - Country specific requirements - explicitly states
1. If the principal applicant holds a passport or travel document from this country, he/she must provide a FULL copy of all passports used in the last 5 years.
2. All civil and official documents MUST be certified copies.

Is a certified copy the same as a certified true copy?
Does anyone recently apply to sponsorship with a non-certified copy of his/her passport?
And if so, how far did the application go through?
Was the non-certified copy of his/her passport a no issue?
So what did you end up doing for the part that says "FULL COPY?" We are doing the application ourselves but had to go to a lawyer for certified copies. He insisted that every page in the passport had to be photocopied (including blank pages) and that he had to certify all of them. He wants 3000 LE for two passports. Is this true or is he trying to be sneaky in a money grab?
