Hello all,

Does anybody know how far in the application CIC contacts the employer? Reason for asking is yesterday my boss received and email from an immigration agent asking whether the employment letter I provided is legit and if I still work for the company. The answer was positive for both. Within minutes the agent replied back thanking my boss for his time.

I received GCMS notes on Monday and it shows the following:

Eligibility: Recommend pass
Criminality: In progress
Medical: Passed
Info sharing: Complete
Security: blank

The curious part is that the notes portion of GCMS notes states that "letter provided appears to fulfill the job duties and web search confirms company existance". I thought that was cleared already, as per notes, but they called after registering this on my application.

Any insights?

Anybody? I know there's no way to know exactly, but if one of the experts know whether they do it at the beginning, or after this and that are cleared, etc... that would be great!

I'll venture a guess..

The eligibility is usually reviewed at 2 stages: Case analysts and officer. The 'recommend pass' is the case analyst's recommendation.
The officer was probably the one to call and confirm with your boss. I think if you order another set of notes , it will say Eligibility: Passed

Thank you for your answer.

Yes, that makes total sense. I keep forgetting that "Recommend pass" isn't the same as "passed" or complete. A case gets reviewed more than once before approved.

Looks like there's still a long way to go then... :(

Wait, CIC contacts employer?
Yup, if they find the information provided is not satisfactory. This is why it is always safe to submit all docs you can, to prove your experience.
