Hi, I recently received a job offer for full time employment as a large animal veterinarian in BC. I would like to clarify if my employer will be exempt from a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) because of my job being in Skill Level A? This is currently listed under the exempt criteria but it is very general and I do not apply for any of the exemption codes that are present on a different menu. Can anyone shed any more light on this as I find it very confusing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Skill level A jobs are not all by default LMIA exempt. To be LMIA exempt, you would need to fall under a specific program or exemption criteria.

Which exact link were you looking at that showed the exemption?

I was just looking at the bullet points immediately below the LMIA exempt temporary workers section. It stated: Must be outside of canada, from an occupation code 0 or skill level A.

I thought that seeing as my occupation is skill level A my employer would not be eligible for a LMIA.

Really hard to comment without a specific link. Are you looking at the CIC/IRCC web site? BC provincial site?

Exemption list is here:
