Hello,

I will be doing my first landing process in Vancouver, BC on May 2nd week. I will be staying for a week and then returning to my Country of Residence. And planning to move to Canada permanently later this year.

Can you suggest any private insurance provider active in that area where I can contact prior to first landing and get a health/accident insurance?

Also can I apply for public health insurance plan on my 2nd day in Canada? I am unsure but probably the correct term is "provincial health insurance" for newcomers. If yes, what documents do I need to present?

Thank you very much for response. Your help is highly appreciated.

You can get a private insurance to cover possible medical emergencies while you are in Canada from a Canadian insurance provider. For a week, the policy will not cost to much. You can get an online quote here and see the option for yourself as well - Visitors to Canada Insurance Quotes

As for eligibility for the provincial insurance coverage, since you are a visitor you are not considered an eligible resident and will not qualify for the government's insurance plan. There are certain requirements you need to know about getting provincial insurance (for example in BC):BC MSP Eligibility
