Dear Friends:

I am in a dilemma and need your help in resolving it. I searched the forum for past three days but could not find any case/thread matching with my situation. Hence opening this new thread. Apologies for long post, kindly bear with me on this and help with your suggestions and inputs.

I am in USA on H1B which will expire in July. I received an ITA on 6th December 2017, and my AOR is 11 February 2018 (because of FBI PCC delay). Currently my application is in IP2 stage (from 27th Feb 2018). If the current processing momentum continues, I am expecting PPR by end of March or by mid April. (As I am awara about some applicant who received PPR with AOR from Jan and Feb).

In the meantime, due to H1B restrictions and rejection cases my employer has initiated process to file for closed work permit for Canada. My senior manager (who initiated Work Permit) does not know that I have applied for the Canadian PR. Looking at the work permit processing timelines it looks to be clashing with the expected PPR date.

Till now I did not disclose PR processing with anyone in organization as I did not wanted to hamper chances of H1B extension till PR is approved. If I continue to hide the PR processing, and

1. if company Visa team contacts CIC for my work permit processing, will they come to know about PR application?
2. If work permit process advances enough till I need to submit my passport for Stamping, and I receive PPR during that time frame, will CIC stamp both (WP & COPR) on the passport, or will cancel my WP?
3. I may lose the 30 days PPR timeline if passports are already with CIC for WP processing, and I won't be able to send them for COPR stamping. In this case can I somehow contact CIC and make them understand about this situation? Will they give extension for PPR?

With all above the final question I am struggling to find answer is, should I disclose the PR processing to my employer or wait until I receive PPR/COPR?

Looking forward for all your help and suggestions in this.

Thank You!
R

1. No. There's no way to "contact" CIC other than through the call center and even there only the information relavant to the company's application would be given out. CIC doesn't give out information about your applications to third parties.

2. If you receive PPR, CIC will probably cancel your work permit and issue you a single entry Immigrant visa along with a CoPR
3. Yes

PR processing and WP processing is different you can apply in parallel it should not be issue. If PR received first your work permit will be refused if work permit received first then when you get PR your wp will be cancelled.

Hi Rahul

could you please let me know if you received work permit applied by your company during your PR process???

or did it get cancelled, any insight in your case would be helpful.

Thanks
