Hi Razerblade, what number did you call IRCC, 1-888-242-2100 1 1 4 1? I called them too, but the agent couldn't tell me much. All he said was that my application is in process and they are still doing background check. He does not see details like you mentioned, security check, criminality check, language check, residence check, etc. Did you call any other number?
Hey canadagoose1, that is the number I called. I don't remember the exact option numbers I chose though, I only recall selecting "citizenship", and then "speak to an agent" options on their menu.

I'm sure they are able to access our GCMS notes, maybe depends from agent to agent whether they want to go the extra mile or not. She seemed a bit hesitant at first. I started off by saying that my status is in process on ECAS, and that I was wondering if there is anymore information they can provide regarding my application that I cannot see online. She put me on hold for a few minutes, and then returned with the info.

I called the IRCC call center for the first time today because I was a little bored of seeing "In process" since beginning of December.

The agent "seemed" knowledgeable and explained to me the different stages an application goes through. In short, some get test invite first and then background checks like criminality and security are performed, while for others these checks are performed first and then test invites are sent out.

In my case, according to her, my criminality and security checks have been cleared, and if they don't request anymore documents then next step is test invite. Although she didn't say how long that could take, which is understandable.

This all lines up with what others have been speculating and what I've believed to be true for a while now. I ordered GCMS notes 2 weeks ago, let's see if they reflect the same info.

I felt the same (IP since Dec 11,2017 and nothing afterwards) so I called CIC and finally got through after numerous attempts in the past few months and almost an hour long wait. I asked where I am now and the agent I spoke with is very nice and she explained steps that are going to happen. (You and I talked to the same person?) Then she put me on hold for a while and came back to say that my background check has cleared and the next step is the test. However to my surprise she told me that I am being processed by Mississauga office instead of Scarborough !!!! even though my address is Toronto (North York). Agent does not know the reason why. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing.

People say that cases in GTA is distributed to the three offices in a way irrelevant to residential address. I'm not sure how do they decide.

I live in Richmond Hill. My wife received FP request today from St. Claire office, so I believe our case is processing there.

I thought so at first, but that's not necessarily the case. Even applicants from Ottawa received from St Claire...

Someone pointed out that there are only 2 CPCs in Canada that process Fingerprints - St. Clair for the east, and Vancouver for the west. So all FP requests for GTA region are processed at St. Clair (Secondary office) and then transferred to the Primary office.

I think Mississauga is faster than Scarborough generally. But I suppose it also depends from case to case. You could order your GCMS notes to confirm as well. I ordered mine mid last month, should get them in 2 more weeks.

You are lucky to reach DM so quickly. Unfortunately though, Scarborough has insane wait times for DM to Oath.

Atleast your part is done now.

Mississuaga is much faster. They give you the oath invite on the same day of test (if u pass) unlike other offices that make u wait couple of month. U must consider urslf lucky. Good luck

Congrats...I believe your timelines are so fast as your application was received on Oct 13, before majority of applications (Oct 16-20) were received. I hope you get the Oath invite at the earliest. Keep us posted when u do get oath invitation.

I don't think it has anything to do with his application delivery date. A lot of others, including myself, had theirs delivered on 13th as well, but haven't even received a test invite yet. In any case, no matter when the test takes place, the overall average processing time (to oath) for Scarborough is sitting at 12 months.

Yes, I do agree with you as it's difficult to understand why there are so different paths for different applications. On another forum, I saw an Oct 16 applicant from Scarborough got his DM done....so not sure what's happening...It might be complexity issues as someone mentioned :) :)

Just out of curiosity wanted to ask, if there is any benefit by calling them and asking them about the application status as we still see our status In Process? In all probability the agent will say that background check is going on or something like that. But as I understand, they can't do anything about our application apart from this info?
