Hello

I went yesterday to the border and I back to Canada as a PR. Because of dead on of my family member I want to go back to my country asap, but I want to receive my PR card to be sure, that I dont loose anything. I was designated by province and after went thru AIPP program. I will provide documents for urgent receiving PR card. My question is: Is there any timeline, where I should stay with my current employer after becoming PR? Thing is, that I dont know how long I'll stay outside Canada, it might be 1 week or 3 months. My employer said, that in this case is better for me to finish contract and start new after I'll come back. I've heard, that sometimes it can cause problem with CIC. Anyone know something about it? Thanks

If you are a Permenent resident, you no longer need an Work permit. You are free to work wherever you choose. Do go and get a new Permenent SIN number from service Canada before you leave.

Worker from Service Canada told me that I need PR card for new SIN.

Are you sure that there is any problems with that? like: ,,you agreed that you'll stay in our province on this position" ? Border security offcer told me excatly the same what you wrote, but I want to be sure

I mean, I know that I dont need WP to change workplace, my question is, if I'll change/leave employer after few days/weeks after PR can have any problem from government or province?

Once you are a PR, you can go anywhere in Canada and work. Unless you signed some agreement (and I haven’t heard of one, but I might be wrong) to remain in that province and with that employer, you are free to do as you please.
The employee at Service Canada is wrong! You can use your COPR to get your new SIN for one year from date of landing.

  • Confirmation of Permanent Residence issued by IRCC, accompanied by either a travel document (for example, a foreign passport) or an alternate photo identification issued by a provincial/territorial authority (for example, a driver’s licence). Note: The Confirmation of Permanent Residence is acceptable if used within one year of the date you became a permanent resident. The permanent resident card is required after this period.

given you got your PR so quickly through AIPP neither your employer or the province/maritimes will be thrilled but yes you can move and work where you want to.
