Extra 3 days stay in Canada after expire my work visa status

Hi all,
I am working as a postdoctoral fellow at Mount Allison University, New Brunswick with the temporary work visa. My work visa will be expired on 31st July 2018. My wife is here with the temporary resident visa. Her visa status also will be expired on 31st July 2018.

There is a conference in Vancouver will be held on from 29th July to 2nd August 2018. I am planning to attend this conference, and then we will leave Canada by 3rd August from Vancouver itself. Can we stay extra 3 more days in Canada to attend the conference until last (2nd August)? Do we need any approval for this extra 3 days stay in Canada?

Any suggestions or opinions are most welcome, will help me a lot.

No you need either to change your status from worker to visitor (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=943&top=25) before your WP expires, or leave the country and come back as a tourist (make sure you have a valid visa if needed).

I have another small query. As my visa is valid up to 31st July 2018, should I leave the county before night 12.00 pm on 31st July or I can take the flight 1st August 2018 morning?

1/ It really doesn't matter a whole lot, as CBSA is not coming to come looking for your for a 12 hour overstay.
