Is it really worth it?

Guys I felt that this is blessing in a way for the people whose spouses have been employed using H4 EAD because it'll be lot easier to convince them to move to Canada now.

It'll also make economic sense.. for instance, if H1 holder was making $100k USD ($140k CAD) in US, it might be possible to make the same salary in Canada with two person earning.. like $75k CAD + $65k CAD (for spouse), but the benefit being spouse can keep up the career. The problem of lower Canadian wages would be somewhat offset by this. Also since there is no health insurance premium in Canada, making same salary in both places is like making around $10k extra (premium cost savings) in Canada. So that can be used to offset the higher cost of living costs in Canada too. In long run, with more local experience, it might be possible to earn more than what someone would have made being in US with single income too.

Convincing is not a problem. The job market is the problem I think.
I think the Canadian job market is not for anyone who is in non-IT or with a niche/out of date skill set. Its also not for anyone who cannot get FT in US and has to rely on consultancy model. If you are in an in-demand field and good enough to be FT in the US, you can get jobs in Canada.

Guys there is a rumor passed by immigration voice that USCIS is planning to reinterpret AC 21 law and stop allowing extensions after sixth year for i140 holders. If they do that, then it's the end of all the backlog. People won't have much choice to stay in US then. I don't have any link for this. It was mentioned in immigration voice call two days back

Do not underestimate education costs in US, specially depending where you live.

They are tightening TN visas too. Right now it's one occupation, eventually they'll tighten others too. with the way things are going, probably we all might have to forget US down the line in few years for good.

Already in IT, only system analysts are allowed through NAFTA. People are just using it for any IT job. They might get really strict with that seeing so many people trying to cross borders using that.

This is a well known fact and CBP is already strict about it. IT professionals heading to USA on TN1 ensure that their job responsibilities mentioned in offer letters and resumes match with "Computer System Analyst" profile and they do not have Coding/Programming in these documents.

I am aware of that. What I meant is they will eventually use more tools at their disposals to stop people crossing borders using TN route. They can go any ways.. they can cross check resume to LCA in which they were working while in US.. I am pretty sure not every one has LCA as computer systems analyst. Saying for an example. It will get stricter like H1b.. the recent memo is the starting point.

Is there a new rule coming that would prevent people from extending H1B status beyond 6 years?
Answer
There is no indication of such a rule being proposed at this time. Further, the ability to extend H1B status beyond 6 years is partially based on a law, rather than a regulation. Therefore, to get rid of this rule would likely require that Congress intervene. (18.Dec.2017)

Guys, I just came to know about the HR 392 bill introduced in the house. Despite having bi-partisan support (302 out of 435 house members co sponsor it), why hasnt't it come to the floor yet for voting? What do you guys think is the chance of this getting passed? If passed, this looks like a promising bill for Indians and Chinese!

How about property prices in CANADA VS U.S ? I think its easy to buy a property in India for some one who worked in U.S for few years. I think Its tough to buy a property 400k-500k in Canada.
